The study of religion under the spell of fascism has not received due attention. One reason for the noticeable lack of interest was the political involvement of many historians of religions. Among those who had good reason to leave the era of fascism untouched, we find prominent figures in the field. Another obstacle to examining the past impartially has been the connection with religious and other worldviews which render historical accounts in the study of religion an intricate matter. The articles in this volume provide evidence of the great complexity of the problems involved. Laying the groundwork in many cases, they shed new light on a dark and poorly-lit era of the academic study of religion in Europe.

This catalogue raisonné describes the lamps and statuettes in terracotta of the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts, to which are added two lamps made of bronze. The collection, small but eclectic, has mostly been assembled in recent years and represents a wide variety of types in these two categories. After an introduction discussing the techniques involved in the production of these objects, the catalogue proper presents 44 lamps, 21 figurines and a single arula with full illustration. This catalogue makes the collection available to a wide readership: students, curators, archaeologists, art historians, collectors and everybody with serious interest in the material culture of the ancient world. This is the second volume of a series intended to make public the different parts of the museum's collection of Mediterranean antiquities. Ce catalogue raisonné présente les lampes et les figurines en terre cuite du Musée des beaux-arts de Montréal ainsi que deux lampes de bronze. La collection, petite mais éclectique, a été formée récemment et comprend un bon échantillon de ces types d'objets. Après en avoir expliqué les techniques de fabrication, le catalogue illustré décrit 44 lampes, 21 statuettes et une arula . Ce livre s'adresse aux étudiants, aux conservateurs, aux archéologues, aux historiens d'art et aux collectionneurs, bref à ceux qu'intéresse l'archéologie du monde antique. Il s'agit du deuxième catalogue d'une série qui vise à publier la collection des antiquités du Musée.

The fifteen papers presented here examine three centuries of close, if sometimes ambiguous, links between Christian mission and medicine. The authors, who include theologians, historians, sociologists, physicians and representatives of major international health-care organisations, address themselves to such questions as: How is one to assess the results of past missionary health-care effort? How are modern-day Christian organisations to cope with the burden of institutions set up in the past? What links should the Churches maintain with official medical organisations? What position should the Churches take on the 'faith volume healing' debate begun by certain religious groups? And how is one to lay the groundwork of a theology of health and healing? The complexity of the issues outlined here can - alas - provide no easy answers. Quinze auteurs, compris théologiens, historiens, sociologues, médecins et responsables d'organisations sanitaires, ont centré leurs réflections sur le rôle des Églises chrétiennes dans le domaine de la santé, hier dans les pays de mission, aujourd'hui dans ces mêmes régions où se mûrit une véritable inculturation du christianisme. Dans cet ouvrage ils abordent plusieurs questions fondamentales: comment évaluer les résultats et lacunes de l'action sanitaire des missions dans le passé? Les communautées chrétiennes actuelles doivent-elles porter le poids d'institutions mises en place hier? Quels rapports les Églises doivent-elles entretenir avec les organisations médicales officielles? Comment les Églises se situent-elles dans la dialectique 'foi-guérison' développée par certains groupes religieux?
