In his work, L'imamat et l'Occultation selon l'imamisme, Etude bibliographique et histoire de textes , Hassan Ansari has attempted to reconstruct a number of doctrines related to the concepts of religious authority ( imāma ) as well as occultation ( ghayba ) in Twelver Shi'i Islam ( Ithnā'ashariyya ). This has been done through identifying and collecting numerous references to quotations of early works in later Shiʿi texts. Ansari has reconstructed earlier layers of primary materials that are entirely lost and only pre-served in later sources.The book's Appendix comprises fragments of early works of Hadith reconstructed from later sources.

Le Corps dans le roman des écrivaines syriennes contemporaines , de Martina Censi, explore les représentations du corps dans un corpus de romans en arabe publiés (entre 2004 et 2011) par six écrivaines syriennes. L'auteure conjugue l'analyse du texte littéraire avec la critique féministe et les études de genre. Par cette approche interdisciplinaire, Censi démontre que l'attention reservée par ces écrivaines aux représentations du corps féminin et masculin témoigne de leurs engagements dans la lutte pour l'émancipation des femmes, mais aussi, et surtout, dans celle pour l'affirmation de l'individu dans la société syrienne contemporaine. Les corps des personnages, marqués par leur différence unique, sont le lieu symbolique de la négociation entre les instances individuelles et collectives. In Le Corps dans le roman des écrivaines syriennes contemporaines , Martina Censi explores the representation of the body in a selection of Arabic novels published (between 2004 and 2011) by six Syrian women authors. Taking an interdisciplinary approach, which combines analysis of the literary texts with Feminist Criticism and Gender Studies, Censi demonstrates that, by focusing on the representation of female and male bodies, these novelists deal not only with feminist issues related to women's emancipation. The author reveals that they also engage in a broader analysis concerning the status of the individual in contemporary Syrian society. Marked by their unique difference, the characters' bodies become the symbolic location for the negotiation between individual and collective claims.

In ʿAli Qoli Jebādār et l'Occidentalism safavide Negar Habibi provides a fresh account of the life and works of ʿAli Qoli Jebādār, a leading painter of the late Safavid period. By collecting several of the artist's paintings and signatures Habibi brings to light the diversity of ʿAli Qoli Jebādār's most important works. In addition, the volume offers us new insights into both the artistic and socio-political evolution of Iranian society in the last days of pre-modern Iran. By carefully consulting the historical sources, Negar Habibi demonstrates the possibility of a female and eunuch patronage in the seventeenth-century paintings known as farangi sāzi , while suggesting the use of the term \'Occidentalism\' for those Safavid paintings that show some exotic and alien details of the Western world. ʿAli Qoli Jebādār et l'Occidentalisme safavide offre un nouveau récit de la vie et des œuvres de ʿAli Qoli Jebādār. This volume looks at hospitals in the post-medieval Indo-Iranian world from various perspectives. During the Safavid-Mughal periods hospitals were still tied to Avicennian medicine. However, in Qajar Iran and British India hospitals became important instruments for the spread of modern Western medicine. The papers in this volume present a significant panorama on the history of medicine and medical institutions in Iran and India during the early modern and the modern periods. The portrait that emerges is not homogeneous, but instead shows ambivalent and contrasting images. Hospitals can be seen as powerful symbols of the Muslim scientific civilization and then of modern medicine, nevertheless, they remained institutions relegated to the fringes of society - regarded with suspicion and usually reserved for the poor. En étudiant la fabrique des héros omeyyades ou des mythes d'origines abbassides, cette étude s'efforce de mettre au jour les significations successives données à l'histoire syrienne, et d'identifier les différentes strates d'écritures et de réécritures de l'histoire au cours des premiers siècles de l'islam. L'ensemble de ces éléments conduit à proposer une histoire du sens de l'espace syrien, articulée autour de la thématique du pouvoir, qui donne une profonde cohérence à la période, par-delà la césure dynastique de 132/750. This book intends to demonstrate that a robust culture of historical writing existed in 2nd/8th century Syria, and to offer new methodological approaches to access this now lost history, torn between memory and oblivion. By studying the making of Umayyad heroes or Abbasid origins-myths, this study aims to reveal the successive meanings granted to Syrian history, and to identify the various layers of historical writing and rewriting during the first centuries of Islam. Taken together, these elements make possible a history of the meaning of the very space of Syria, articulated around power and its expression, which grants a clear coherence to the period, extending well beyond the dynastic caesura of 132/750.

Codex Amrensis 1 , the first volume of the series Documenta Coranica contains images and Arabic texts of four sets of fragments (seventy-five sheets) of the Qurʾān codex, once kept in the ʿAmr ibn al-ʿĀṣ Mosque at Al-Fusṭāṭ, and now in the collections of the National Library of Russia, the Bibliothèque Nationale de France, The Museum of Islamic Art, Doha and the Nasser D. Khalili Collection of Islamic Art. It includes an extensive introduction, the facsimile of the original, and the full text with annotations.The manuscript, copied during the first half of the 8th century and written in ḥiǧāzī script, contains diacritical signs for about 20% of the letters, without any signs for short vowels. It varies from today's reference editions of the Qurʾān in verse numbering and has a different orthography. Essential reading for students and scholars of the history of the Qurʾān and its written transmission. Le Codex Amrensis 1 rassemble quatre fragments manuscrits, aujourd'hui dispersés dans les collections de la Bibliothèque nationale de France, de la Bibliothèque nationale de Russie, du Musée d'art islamique à Doha et dans la collection de Nasser D.
