Kai Kaniuth has worked on the Sapalli Culture, the Uzbek variant of the BMAC, since 1995. He completed his Ph.D. in 2000 with a thesis on the Late Bronze Age metalwork of Central Asia. He is now a senior lecturer at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich, Germany.
