Vasant Shinde

Professor of Protohistory, Field Archaeology and H, Deccan College P.G.R.I, Pune, India

Vasant Shinde, a former Professor and Vice-Chancellor at the Deccan College Post-Graduate and Research Institute, Pune, and presently a CSIR Bhatnagar Fellow at CCBM, Hyderabad, is a world-renowned archaeologist in South Asia. Over the last 43 years he has pioneered archaeological research, specialising in the protohistory of South Asia and maritime history as well as field archaeology. Prof. Shinde has completed 16 major research projects, in the process of which he has collaborated with scholars and institutes from around the world.
