About the Author

Bülent Arıkan is a landscape archaeologist who has worked extensively in the Near East. His research focuses on modeling paleoclimates and simulating behavioral changes under past environmental perturbations as well as exploring how ancient cultures impacted their landscapes. His publications focus on past climatic changes and socio-ecological dynamics from the Neolithic to the Iron Age.

Linda Olsvig-Whittaker, a founding member of SNELA, was an evolutionary ecologist with a 40 year career in ecology and nature conservation in Israel. On retirement in 2014, she began a career in landscape archaeology. She has published on ecological change at the end of the Bronze Age, and on archaeobotany and Roman settlement patterns in Jordan.
