Honorific Culture at Delphi in the Hellenistic and Roman Periods /
:
The goal of this inscription-based study is to shed new light on Hellenistic and Roman Delphi by placing inscribed honours at the front and centre of the investigation. This book provides, for the first time, a comprehensive and coherent discussion of the Delphic gift-giving system, its regional interactions, and its honorific network. It employs both conventional and new scientific methods, including an analysis of quantitative trends in the epigraphic records and a Social Network Analysis (SNA) approach. The volume also addresses a broad spectrum of epigraphic topics and discusses current research questions as well as future perspectives.

Early Christianity in Athens, Attica, and Adjacent Areas : From Paul to Justinian I (1st-6th cent. AD) /
:
This volume focuses on the rise and expansion of Christianity in Athens, Attica, and adjacent areas, from the Pauline mission until the closing of the philosophical schools under Justinian I. It takes into account all relevant literary, epigraphical, and archaeological evidence.
This volume focuses on Christianity in Attica and its metropolis, Athens, from Paul's initial visit in the first century up to the closing of the philosophical schools under the reign of Justinian I in the sixth century. Underscoring the relevance of epigraphic resources and the importance of methodological sophistication in analysing especially archaeological evidence, it readdresses many questions on the basis of a larger body of evidence and aims to combine literary, epigraphic, and archaeological evidence in order to create the outlines of a narrative of the rise and development of Christianity in the area. It is the first interdisciplinary study on the local history of Christianity in the area.

In Kontinuität und Wandel des Senatorenstandes im Zeitalter der Soldatenkaiser Nikolas Hächler observes the composition, function and general importance of the ordo senatorius during 235-284 C.E. when the Roman Empire was affected by a series of radical changes. The study is grounded on a prosopographical analysis, in which Hächler presents a reconstruction of senatorial cursus based on the currently known source material. Although the most important functions within the Roman army were gradually filled by members of the ordo equester instead of viri clarissimi and the senatorial order thereby suffered a loss of importance during the Third century, it remained of utmost significance for the stability of the Imperium Romanum in times of crisis.

Thinking through Letters: Studies on Epistolary Collections by Greek Philosophers /
:
This volume offers a renewed examination of the letter collections attributed to Greek philosophers from the Archaic to the early Hellenistic periods. Long dismissed as largely inauthentic since Bentley, these texts are reconsidered here not for their authorship, but for what they reveal about the reception, interpretation, and fictionalization of philosophical figures and traditions. The contributors explore the role of these letters in constructing images of philosophers, blending biography and literary invention, shaping school identities, and circulating doctrines. Taken together, the chapters demonstrate that these often neglected texts are essential evidence for understanding how philosophical ideas and ways of life were transmitted and reshaped in antiquity.
