This volume explores the role of religion in the educational achievement of Hispanics. In particular, it assesses the influence of religion on parental involvement in children's educational experiences. The book compares Catholic and Protestant parents' opinions and practices against the backdrop of socio-economic factors, such as levels of income and schooling. In its examination of the relationships between family, church and school, the study explores how religion and other cultural traits such as family structure, language, and ethnic identity, interact and yield particular educational outcomes. The study shows that religion can make a positive difference in the education of Latinos. Religion is a resource that parents can tap into for the benefit of their children. Teachers, school administrators, policy makers and religious leaders will find this study useful as they strive to understand and change Latinos' educational status.

Post-Amarna Period Statues of Amun and His Consorts Mut and Amunet /
:
The reign of the "heretic pharaoh" Akhenaten-the so-called Amarna Period-witnessed an unprecedented attack on the cult of Amun, King of the Gods, with his cult center at ancient Thebes (modern Luxor). A program to reinstate Amun to pre-eminence in the traditional pantheon was instituted by Akhenaten's successors Tutankhamun, Ay, and Horemhab. Damaged reliefs and inscriptions were restored and new statues of Amun and his consorts Mut and Amunet commissioned to replace those destroyed under Akhenaten. In this study, over 60 statues and fragments of statues attributable to the post-Amarna Period on the basis of an inscription, physiognomy, and/or stylistic analysis are discussed, as well as others that have been incorrectly assigned to the era.

In accordance with the By-laws of the American Research Center in Egypt, the Annual Meeting was convened on Tuesday, November 17, at 2:30 p.m., at the office of the Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with the President, William Stevenson Smith, in the chair and 151 members present in person or by proxy. This meeting was preceded by a Special Meeting held in New York City at the Institute of Fine Arts of New York University, which most generously offered hospitality to members and their guests. The latter meeting, attended by more than 150 persons, about one-third of whom were members, was marked by a program of papers and a brief business meeting at which the members present voted on the propositions later ratified at the Cambridge meeting of November 17.
Breaking Boundaries in Theology : In Conversation with Roger Haight SJ /

American Jesuit Roger Haight (born 1936) undoubtedly belongs to the circle of Catholic theologians who have set standards across denominational boundaries, particularly in the English-speaking world. Haight's writings have attracted both attention and criticism. The anthology will be the first comprehensive and international examination of central aspects of Haight's theology.
