The articles in Phenomenology and the Metaphysics of Sight explore the uses and resonances of the paradigm of sight across the phenomenological tradition, with particular reference to the works of Husserl, Heidegger, and Merleau-Ponty. The axes of this investigation are the phenomenological readings of the notion of sight in ancient Greek philosophy, the ways in which phenomenology leads us beyond the primacy of sight, and the rivalry between the paradigm of sight and those of touch and hearing. The aim of this collection is to demonstrate that the use of the paradigm of sight pervades phenomenology and partially explains both the development of its self-criticism and its view on the history of philosophy.

In Post-Deconstructive Subjectivity and History , Aniruddha Chowdhury argues that deconstruction is not only not a dissolution of subject, as it is often opined, but an affirmation of the singular (ethical) subject and singular history, singularity conceived as alterity, difference and non-identity. Part of the emphasis of the singular history is to conceive the historical relation as figural and as one of repletion with difference. One of the distinctive aspects of the book is that it not only focuses on the tradition of phenomenology, but also extends deconstruction to critical theory, and postcolonial theory. By this reasoning, rooted in a consciousness of phenomena in themselves, a Thomistic realism is advanced wherein scientific inquiry yields objective truth and presupposes a causal principle. This principle, as an inferably true modality, strictly implies a first cause. And this cause as a supreme norm, causally created human nature as it ought to be. So with no naturalistic fallacy, a naturalistic ethics is inferred from our psycho-biological nature that also informs art and politics. Politics, as the institutionalization of ethics, is inferable from ethical prescriptions that are as certifiably true as the descriptions of science that inform it.
