T. Edmund Harvey : Liberal Ascendant /
:
T. Edmund Harvey (1875-1955) is a unique figure, a Quaker who was a member of the British parliament in both world wars. He began as a Liberal Radical MP under Asquith and ended as an Independent Progressive in Churchill's wartime Parliament. He was a child of the Quaker Renaissance, a post-Victorian Christian gentleman whose religious and political life coincided with the era in Quaker history of 'liberalism ascendant', an era he helped shape. Harvey's career evinces a fourfold typology of British Quakers, as liberals, socialists, anarchists and experientialists.

Navigating the Study of Myth, Ritual, and Belief : Models from the Ancient Mediterranean to the Present Day; Essays in Honor of Sarah Iles Johnston /
:
Sarah Iles Johnston has innovated in the study of myth, ritual, and belief, and her scholarship in these areas informs the contributions to this volume, each of which uses Johnston to innovate in turn. The capacity of Johnston's work to underpin scholarship on phenomena from the ancient Mediterranean to the present day--from Isis charms in Christian Egypt to American goddess worship; from healing in the Epidaurian iamata to the medicine of Linda Hogan's Indios; from the believability of a Syriac ghost story to that of theurgic ritual--illustrates Johnston's impact and the vibrant state of work on myth, ritual, and belief.

Teaching Religious Education : Challenges, Developments and Current Debates in Comparative Perspective /
:
Historically, religious education has often been seen as a tool for reinforcing cultural and religious identity. However, as the world becomes more interconnected and religious diversity grows within national borders, RE has increasingly been called upon to play a different role-one that fosters understanding and peaceful coexistence among people of different faiths and worldviews. The volume Teaching Religious Education: Challenges, Developments, and Current Debates in Comparative Perspective delves into these complexities, offering a comprehensive exploration of how religious education is taught, debated, and implemented across a diverse range of countries, challenging the Eurocentric focus of much existing research on religious education.
