American Jesuit Roger Haight (born 1936) undoubtedly belongs to the circle of Catholic theologians who have set standards across denominational boundaries, particularly in the English-speaking world. Haight's writings have attracted both attention and criticism. The anthology will be the first comprehensive and international examination of central aspects of Haight's theology. A detailed introduction, which primarily aims to situate Haight's theology in his social and cultural context, is followed by three sections that present central aspects of his theology and conversationally develop them. This book examines the contributions of Petrus Peckius (1529-1589), a law professor at the University of Leuven, focusing on how he shaped canon law amid the rise of Protestantism, ongoing wars, and the demands of Catholic Reform, particularly the Council of Trent (1545-1563). This research shows that while Peckius largely adhered to established canons and jurisprudence within its commune, he also engaged with reform, introduced methodological innovations, and adapted to contemporary challenges. Augustinus und der Pelagianismus stehen für zwei konträre Positionen christlicher Theologie. Der Pelagianismus ist dabei eine häresiologische Konstruktion von Augustinus, die Auseinandersetzung mit dem Pelagianismus prägte wiederum Augustinus' Gnadenlehre nachhaltig. Die vorliegende Monographie stellt ausgehend von der Analyse der Schrift "̌Contra duas epistulas Pelagianorum" dar, wie Augustinus zwischen 411 und 421 den Pelagianismus als Häresie definierte und zugleich seine Gnadenlehre weiterentwickelte. Als Grundlage verwendete Augustinus dabei das soteriologische Konzept von Heilsstadien. Mit diesem gelang es ihm, verschiedene Themenfelder wie Gnaden- und Sündenlehre, Paulusexegese und Christologie zu verknüpfen und antipelagianisch zu profilieren. Damit findet sich in den antipelagianischen Schriften eine Synthese von Augustinus' später Theologie, wodurch sich viele Querbeziehungen zwischen Augustinus' Antipelagianismus und Auseinandersetzungen mit anderen Häresien aufzeigen lassen.

Diese Frage wird an die Textinterpretationen der Perikope der kanaanäischen Frau (Mt 15, 21-28) bei den syrischen Kirchenvätern Aphrahat, Ephraem dem Syrer und Jakob von Sarug gestellt. Um eine eingehende Antwort geben zu können, wurden die Homilien der syrischen Kirchenväter hier zum ersten Mal einer vielseitigen historisch-philologischen Analyse unterzogen. Da nun die Analyse zeigt, dass das Verhältnis von Glaube und Heilung in den Ausführungen der spätantiken syrischen Autoren zu den neutestamentlichen Heilungs-Erzählungen nicht nur mittels medizinaler Metaphorik veranschaulicht, sondern auch inhaltlich im Gespräch mit der Sichtweise der damaligen Medizin verstanden wird, liegt ein Schwerpunkt der Arbeit auf der historischen sowie systematisch-theologischen Beleuchtung dieses Gesprächs.

The Russian Orthodox Church understood Eve as a prefiguration of Mary, who was revered as the "New Eve", whose obedience to God's will reversed the sins of Eve, thus raising the status of Eve as well. The symbolism relating to Eve and Mary in Russian icons is evidence of how the Russian Orthodox Church understood Eve and Mary in relation to the salvation of humanity. Pasichnik's research examines the Descent into Hell, Dormition, Last Judgment, and Deacons' Door icons that best capture these eschatological aspects and the nexus between Eve and Mary.
