Reading Heikki Räisänen's hermeneutics in context, Timo Eskola explores the development of Western New Testament interpretation. Reclaiming a Wredean approach to the Scriptures, Räisänen focuses on tradition and interpretation. He builds on Weberian sociology, adopted through Peter Berger's theories, and substitutes sacralized culturalism for biblical theology. After examining fourteenth century Quran-criticism and its impact on Reimarus, Eskola discusses the genesis of the revised history-of-religion theory that Räisänen developed when investigating the Quran's relationship to the Bible. Sociology then becomes a link between standard historicism and poststructuralism as Räisänen reinterprets Berger's sociology of knowledge. Räisänen's sacralized culturalism finally becomes the theory from which his magnum opus The Rise of Christian Beliefs has been written.

In When Pentecostals Cry, Martin Warnelid presents a unique perspective on the affective dimension of pentecostal spirituality by exploring fourteen narratives of encountering God by ordinary pentecostal believers. From a practical-theological perspective, the author creatively interprets the research findings through the leitmotif of pentecostal tears, engaging constructively with Hartmut Rosa's theory of resonance and Simeon Zahl's pneumatology. In doing this, the book offers a fresh understanding of what occurs when pentecostals cry that goes beyond dismissing the phenomenon as religious emotionalism. For the first time, affective experiences of encountering God are in this book interpreted as pneumatological resonance, a concept that expands the conversation on pentecostal spirituality in significant ways.

In contrast to its original name, Ecclesia Reformata, ecclesiology did not develop into a major theme within the Reformed tradition. Notwithstanding the undeniable schismatic tendency and the ecclesial embarrassment about disunity, the unity of the church did not rise to prominence as a theological topic. This volume challenges this traditional low-key attitude towards the unity of the church. It investigates theological aspects that contributed to a weak sensus unitatis, and explores approaches that remedy the disease of division. It discusses the role played by scripture, the sacraments, confessions, and discipline; it searches for the best theological practices within other Christian traditions; it links the unity of the church to the unity of God and reformulates the nature of the church.
