Psalmen oder Psalter? : Materielle Rekonstruktion und inhaltliche Untersuchung der Psalmenhandschriften aus der Wuste Juda /
:
Psalms or Psalter? This study creates a new, solid foundation for discussions on the psalm manuscripts found in the Judean Desert. A variety of explanatory models, statistics and synthetic hypotheses have already been produced in the course of numerous analyses and interpretations. However, the disparate and fragmentary character of the manuscripts has barely received any attention since the main focus has mostly been on discussions of the content. For the first time, the entire preserved fragment material of the psalm manuscripts from the Judean Desert is here being presented and edited as a whole. In this way, it can be defined and analyzed in future studies. New ways of exploring the contents will particularly result with regard to the best preserved psalm roll, 11QPs a.

:
This volume is concerned with the great Psalms Scroll from cave 11 at Qumran as an example for the reception (\'Fortschreibung\') of biblical texts and books in early judaism. After methodological considerations the scroll is examined and reconstructed entirely in its material and textual extent for the first time. Detailed analyses of the text and the structure of this work show that 11QPsᵃ developed from the final redaction of the biblical book of Psalms. In its unique text form and arrangement of Psalms it was composed in a qumranic milieu and functions as a work for a davidic figure.

On t.p. the "a" in "11QPsa" is superscript.

ʿAlī-nāma : Manẓūma-ī kuhan /
:
Until the discovery of the Persian ʿAlī-nāma , Ibn Ḥusām's Khawarān-nāma (completed in 830/1427) was believed to be the oldest Persian epic poem involving the often wondrous exploits of ʿAlī b. Abī Ṭālib and the beginnings of Shīʿism. The Khawarān-nāma takes its inspiration from Firdawsī's Shāh-nāma (completed in 400/1010), but then adapted to fit the Shīʿī theme, with ʿAlī and his companions often taking the place of Rustam and other heroes. With this edition of the ʿAlī-nāma we now have access to a much older poem on this subject. Composed by someone using the alias of Rabīʿ, it was completed in 482/1089 in Khurāsān, most probably in or near the town of Sabzawār, just seventy years after the completion of Firdawsī's Shāh-nāma . The text is important because long before others, it acknowledges the heroes of the Shāh-nāma , some of whom were actually written into the script.

Criminalization : Politics and Policies /
:
Criminalization: Politics and Policies provides a thorough analysis of the relationship between politics, policies, and criminalization. Through diverse perspectives and scholarly essays, it explores the multifaceted issues in criminal justice, law, and governance. The book scrutinizes the impact of law, society, politics, and penal populism on criminalization across legal systems, advocating for a reassessment of criminal law's scope. It delves into the prevalence of resorting to criminalization for social issues, urging for a critical review. Additionally, it examines the normative foundations of criminalization, addressing 'over'-criminalization and exploring its empirical and normative aspects. The anthology also considers the roles of prosecutorial and judicial discretion, as well as State preventive powers, in over-criminalization. Whether a scholar, policymaker, or citizen, readers gain insights into the expansion of criminal laws and their consequences, making it a valuable resource for understanding the dynamics of law, politics, and power in criminal justice. Contributors are Naveed Ahmad, Chirag Balyan, Shruti Bedi, Subhangi Jain, Charles Khamala, Sébastien Lafrance, Sidharth Luthra, David McCallum, Garima Pal, Daria Ponomareva, Alok Prasanna, Yogesh Pratap Singh, and Ekkehard Strauss.

Ashraf al-tawārīkh : Waqāyiʿ-i marbūṭ bih dawra-yi ḥukūmat-i Muḥammad Walī Mīrzā dar Khurāsān /
:
When the Qajar ruler Fatḥ ʿAlī Shāh (d. 1834) acceded to the throne in Tehran in 1797, he was confronted with many challenges. On the one side, foreign powers like England, France and Russia sought to increase their influence in Persia while internally his authority was disputed in different parts of the empire. A major concern was Khurāsān, where he had various challengers. Desirous to increase his presence there, he put his 15-year old son Muḥammad Walī Mīrzā (d. 1864) in charge of Khurasān in 1803. Over the next 14 years, Walī Mīrzā did much to assert Qajar control over Khurāsān, something in which he was for the most part succesful. The present work is an account of Walī Mīrzā's rule in Khurāsān. Written by Muḥammad Taqī Nūrī, vizier and intimate of the court, it constitutes a rare and detailed source of information on people and events in Khurāsān in that period.
