In this volume, Tzvi Abusch presents studies written over a span of forty years that were completed prior to his retirement from Brandeis University in 2019. They reflect several themes that he has pursued in addition to his work on witchcraft literature and the Epic of Gilgamesh. The volume begins with general articles on Mesopotamian magic, religion, and mythology; these are followed by a set of articles on Akkadian prayers, especially šuillas , focusing, first of all, on exegetical and linguistic (synchronic) studies and, then, on diachronic analyses; part two contains a series of literary studies of Mesopotamian and biblical classics; part three is devoted to comparative studies of terms and phenomena; finally, the fourth part takes up texts that are of legal interest. This volume in the series Documentary History of the Jews in Italy illustrates the history of the Jews in Sicily during the last decade of the fourteenth century and the first two of the fifteenth. It is the sequel to the first and second volumes on the history of the Jews in Sicily, and illustrates the events during the political upheavals which preceded the reunion of the island with Aragon. During that period the Jewish minority flourished, although affected by unsettled political conditions, along with the rest of the population. Over 500 documents, many of them published here for the first time, record the fortunes of the Jews and their relationships with the authorities, especially the two Martins, and their Christian neighbours. Much new information has come to light, and many facets of Jewish life in Sicily have been uncovered. The abundance of historical records in the archives of the Crown and of local authorities compares favourably with the relative scarcity of surviving documentation in earlier centuries. Therefore, again, many documents had to be reported in summary form. Much new information has come to light. The volume is again provided with additional bibliography and indexes, while the introduction has been relegated to the end of the series on the Jews of the island.

Le port pharaonique du Ouadi el-Jarf est constitué d'un ensemble d'installations (galeries magasins, campements, installations maritimes) qui se répartissent sur une distance d'environ 5 km, entre le piémont du Gebel Galala el-Qibliya et la côte du golfe de Suez. Ce premier volume, résultat de fouilles menées entre 2012 et 2021, a pour objectif de présenter les aménagements qui se trouvent sur le littoral de la mer Rouge où l'on observe encore les vestiges d'une jetée de grande taille en forme de « L » destinée à fournir un abri aux embarcations qui fréquentaient le port, ainsi que ceux d'une série de campements installés à quelque 200 m du littoral. Cette zone était particulièrement fréquentée par les équipes d'ouvriers qui étaient chargées du montage et du démontage des bateaux utilisés sur le site. Le riche matériel recueilli lors de la fouille de cette zone du site comprend notamment de nombreuses empreintes de sceaux aux noms des rois Snéfrou et Chéops -- qui permettent de dater l'occupation du site du tout début de la IVe dynastie -- ainsi qu'un dépôt exceptionnel d'une centaine d'ancres de bateaux qui avaient été abritées dans ces bâtiments au terme de la dernière grande expédition maritime organisée à cet endroit. Celles-ci sont régulièrement inscrites au nom des embarcations auxquelles elles appartenaient, et nous renvoient une image de la dernière flotte qui a fréquenté les lieux vers 2600 av. J.-C

It is a consolidated tradition that the 'Proceedings of the International Congresses of Coptic Studies' include both papers organized thematically - according to sections and panels - and a larger group of general reportraits, provided with a rich bibliography, about new research trends and acquisitions in a particular field of Coptology: art, archaeology, literature, linguistics, monasticism, Gnosticism, magic, etc. 'The Proceedings of the Tenth International Congress of Coptic Studies', in particular, contain the reportraits delivered during the Cairo Congress of 2008 (covering the period 2002-2008) and those pronounced during the Rome Congress of 2012 (covering the period 2008-2014), the latter characterized by two new reportraits: "Shenutean studies" and "Ethiopic studies in relation to Egyptian culture". This volume contains word-for-word commentaries on Pindar's Olympian Odes 3, 7, 12, 14. Emphasis is placed on the explanations of peculiarities of grammar and idiom, but due attention is paid to figures of style and problems of poetic structure. The interpretations proposed by the author - many of them which are new - are documented as fully, but at the same time as concisely, as possible. This documentation, which includes a critical examination of other views, has been made more easily accessible by detailed indexes. The poems discussed do not have special similarities or interrelationships. On the other hand, they may be considered representative of the poet's art. From this point of view, the present selection may serve as an introduction to the study of Pindar's work. Vol. II will contain commentaries on Olympians 1, 10, 11, Nemean 11, and Isthmian 2. A third volume on Pythians 1, 8, 10 is inteded to conclude the series.

Adab is a concept situated at the heart of Arabic and Islamic civilisation. Adab is etiquette, ethics, and literature. It is also a creative synthesis, a relationship within a configuration. What became of it, towards modernity ? The question of the "civilising process" (Norbert Elias) helps us reflect on this story.
