The people of the Hittites (ca. 1700-1200 B.C.) have been the object of serious study for more than eighty years now. Consequently our knowledge of these Indo-European Anatolians has grown at an enourmous pace. One may therefore rigthly conclude that the flow of scholarly literature in monographs, journal articles, Festschriften et cetera has reached a point where hardly any scholar can claim an overview anymore. This systematic bibliography of Hittitology covers the scholarly production from 1915-1995. The authors have aimed at exhaustiveness for Hittitologists. As Hittitology can not be isolated from the studies of adjacent contemporary (Anatolian) peoples, also relevant important contributions on for example the Chatti, Churrites, Luwians and other cultures have been taken into account. The collected biblical writings of T.C. Skeat /

A high proportion of the many articles published by the papyrologist T.C. Skeat (1907-2003), a former Keeper of Manuscripts at the British Museum, concerns the New Testament. This present collection gathers together papers on Biblical and related matters contributed by Skeat for over sixty years to various publications. The book divides these into three sections: ancient book production, studies on particular Biblical manuscripts and textual criticism. In his Introduction J.K. Elliott assesses the importance of Skeat's work and he incorporates from personal correspondence some of Skeat's later thinking on these topics. A full Bibliography of Skeat's writings is included.

In Epigraphica Boeotica II John Fossey continues to treat results of his nearly 50 years of research into the archaeology and inscriptions of Ancient Boiotia ( Epigraphica Boeotica I, Amsterdam, 1991). The first part of the volume discusses the relations between Boiotia and other parts of the Greek world as seen in acts of proxenia and agonistic victor lists. After a section on dedications both religious and civic, there follows a series of studies of ancient tombstones, many of them spolia used in more recent buildings, with prosopographic and onomastic commentary on the names contained in them. Discussion throughout features letter forms and one specific example of this is an epigramme by the Roman philhellene emperor Hadrianus. An unusual rupestral text concludes the volume.

Les premières fouilles archéologiques furent entreprises à Sinope entre 1951 et 1953.
