Narratives and journeys in rock art : a reader /

: Why publish a reader? Today, it is relatively easy and convenient to switch on your computer and download an academic paper. This text provides a series of papers from all over the world that extend as far back as the 1970s when rock art research was in its infancy. The papers presented in the reader reflect the development in the various approaches that have influenced advancing scholarly research.

New perspectives on Aristotle's De caelo /

: This volume is the first collection of scholarly articles in any modern language devoted to Aristotle's De caelo . It grew out of series of workshops held at Princeton, Cambridge, and Paris in the late 1990's. Since Aristotle's De caelo had a major influence on cosmological thinking until the time of Galileo and Kepler and helped to shape the way in which Western civilization imagined its natural environment and place at the center of the universe, familiarity with the main doctrines of the De caelo is a prerequisite for an understanding of much of the thought and culture of antiquity and the Middle Ages. This book is also available in paperback.

Early mesolithic technical systems of Southern France and Northern Italy /

: The Sauveterrian represents one of the main cultural aspects of the European Early Mesolithic. In this work, its presumed uniformity - mostly based on typological grounds - is questioned with the purpose of assessing and verifying the relationships existing between the two central areas of diffusion of this complex: southern France and northern Italy. A broad technological approach, combining complementary analytical techniques, was applied to the study of a series of French and Italian lithic assemblages. More specifically, these were investigated with the aim of reconstructing the entire reduction sequences, from the procurement of lithic raw materials to the use and discard of tools.
