Unlike contemporary literary-linguistic configurations of genre, current methodologies for the study of the Gospel genre are designed only to target genre similarities not genre differences . This basic oversight results in the convoluted discussion we witness in Lukan genre study today. Each recent treatment of the genre of Luke-Acts represents a distinct effort to draw parallels between Luke-Acts and a specific (or multiple) literary tradition(s). These studies all underestimate the role of literary divergence in genre analysis, leveraging much-if not, all-of their case on literary proximity . This monograph will show how attention to literary divergence from a number of angles may bring resolution to the increasingly complex discussions of the genre(s) of Luke-Acts.

Although there has been, in recent times, a widespread interest in preservation and promotion of Indigenous Heritage or Knowledge Systems from a variety of disciplines and sectors, from across the globe - the design principles or modalities of a holistic conservation remains largely unexplored. This volume explores this lacunae and proposes the concept of Ecosemiotic Community Museuology (ECM), and a road map for it, through theory and practice. Based on the trajectories of conservation - natural, cultural and museological - down time, and indigenous epistemological premises brought forth from previous research, the treatise proposes the concept of ECM as a paradigm for successful community-based conservation of indigenous knowledge systems or indigenous biocultural heritage in its holistic wholeness. While taking into cognizance the issues of interfacing - namely, cross-cultural knowledge integration, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) and Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), the volume attempts to add value to its basic ecosemiotic museological proposition, and strengthen its case, through presentation of, and comments on, a diverse range of secondary case studies of ongoing conservational initiatives from across the globe that highlight the ingredients of success as well as non-performance of such efforts. The ultimate goal of the historical surveys, intellectual exercises and the case studies in this volume are to capture the nuances that can help decolonize not just 'museology' or 'conservation' but 'development' and 'sustainability' itself. The rhetorical function of the book of Ezekiel /

This study analyses the book of Ezekiel as a tool of communication, arguing that the book was designed to shape the self-understanding of the exilic community. A discussion of the historical context precedes a chapter that deals with the basic thrust and literary arrangement of Ezekiel. A detailed examination of individual rhetorical techniques (use of the watchman motif, legal traditions, emotional language, and others) and of crucial passages (especially 24:15-27 and 37:1-14) follows. The final chapter explores the book's suitability for the situation for which it was designed. This work gives readers the opportunity to study the book of Ezekiel as a whole and to explore some of its intricacies. Its methodology is an example of the fruitful integration of traditional critical methods and more recent literary and sociological approaches. This volume offers a conceptual and empirical study of the religious profession. It takes as its point of departure professionalisation theory that is discussed and applied to a profession in mainstream religion, in this case Dutch Catholic ministry. The book entails a well-documented empirical study of attitudes of clergy and lay personnel in the Dutch Roman-Catholic Church regarding the pastoral profession. Their attitudes towards church authority, apostolicity, sacramental efficacy, accession to the office, and spiritual role are described extensively. The research clarifies the extent to which these religious attitudes act as a positive or negative motif to engage in policies that are aimed at a professional development of the occupation. The book offers an excellent insight into basic characteristics of a religious profession.
