Toward a Public Theology of Climate Change : A Chinese Perspective /
:
How can theology shape public discourse on climate change? This book explores the urgent intersection of climate justice, public theology, and environmental communication from a Chinese Christian perspective. As the world grapples with climate apocalypse, this study reveals how religious discourse can influence public opinion and policymaking. Engaging with global and Chinese contexts, it evaluates competing theological approaches and proposes a framework for a public theology of climate change. With insights into environmental activism, political deliberation, and ethical responsibility, this book equips theologians, religious scholars, and climate activists to rethink the role of religion in the fight against climate change.

The Precinct of Mut at South Karnak : an archaeological guide /
:
"Mut was an important deity perhaps best known as the consort of Amun-Re and the mother of Khonsu, but her earlier and far more independent role was as the daughter of the sun god, much akin to Hathor. Like Nekhbet and Wadjet and the other lioness goddesses (referred to as Sekhmet) she was the 'Eye of Re,' who could be both benign and dangerous. In human form, Mut protected the king and his office; as Sekhmet she could destroy Egypt if not pacified. The Mut precinct was a major religious center from the Eighteenth Dynasty to the Roman Period, but evidence suggests the existence of an even earlier temple. It expanded during the reign of the Kushite king, Taharqa and attained its present size during the fourth century BCE, sheltering three major temples, several small chapels, and eventually, a village within the protection of its massive enclosure walls. One of its most striking features is the hundreds of Sekhmet statues. In 1976, the Brooklyn Museum began the first systematic exploration of the precinct as a whole. Since 2001, Brooklyn has shared the site with an expedition from the Johns Hopkins University, both teams working cooperatively toward the same goal. This richly illustrated guide seeks to bring the goddess and her temple precinct the attention they deserve." --Back cover.

Hans Kelsen and the natural law tradition /
:
Hans Kelsen and the Natural Law Tradition provides the first sustained examination of Hans Kelsen's critical engagement, itself founded upon a distinctive theory of legal positivism, with the Natural Law Tradition. This edited collection commences with a comprehensive introduction which establishes the character of Kelsen's critical engagement as a general critique of natural law combined with a more specific critique of representative thinkers of the Natural Law Tradition. The subsequent chapters are then devoted to a detailed analysis of Kelsen's engagement with prominent theorists from the Natural Law Tradition. The volume concludes with an exploration, focusing upon the delineation of a non-positivist legal theory in the debate between Robert Alexy and Joseph Raz, of the continued presence of Kelsenian legal positivism in contemporary legal theory.

Offerings to the discerning eye : an Egyptological medley in honor of Jack A. Josephson /
:
Egyptologist Jack A. Josephson, a writer and researcher in the tradition of the "gentleman scholar," has achieved broad recognition as an authority in Egyptian art history. His lucid investigative analyses have probed and redefined the limits of inquiry, expanded research parameters, and broadened perspectives, emphasizing the undeniable contributions of art history in an intra-disciplinary framework. This volume of collected essays is dedicated to Josephson by distinguished friends and colleagues, a select roster including eminent, established scholars in the field of Egyptology and rising stars of the younger generation. Josephson views Egyptian art history as a critical but neglected area of study, and is a strong proponent of its reinstatement in the academic curriculum as an essential component in the formation of new cadres. The quality of the articles in this Egyptological medley is a tribute to the honoree and an affirmation of the esteem of his peers, while the range of subjects and variety of themes addressed reflect the degree to which he has, in his own scholarship, undertaken to implement his ideal.

Class, Race, and the US South : American Politics and Society through the Lens of Michael Goldfield's Work /
:
Class, Race, and the US South , a Festschrift for labour militant and political scientist Michael Goldfield, features original contributions from the most prominent contemporary historical-materialist social scientists and historians. The collection's uniting theme is that class, race, and the South are the most important mainsprings of American society. Combining labour history, southern history, and theoretical critiques of mainstream conceptualisations of racism, this work emphasises the working class as the primary driver of both reactionary and potentially revolutionary change.

Bohemian Bolsheviks : Dispatches from the Culture and History of the Left /
:
The rubric, 'Bohemian Bolsheviks,' captures Alan Wald's sustained fascination with persistent contradictions between the image of Left political commitment and the actuality of experience, especially in relation to cultural work and cultural workers. Marxist political alignment engages a welter of intimate and biographical factors enriching the record of a varied history of fiction, poetry, literary criticism, and other intellectual practices. Exploring a field of study marked by enduring paradoxes of modernity, this volume is a sharp reminder that historical narrative not only shapes our sense of the terrain under our feet-but also the horizon in front of us.
