In Anti-manipulation Regime in Korea: a Critique and Comparative Exploration , Min-woo Kang provides a comprehensive and critical discussion of the market manipulation regime in Korea, together with a comparative analysis of the corresponding legislations and regulations in major jurisdictions, such as the US and the EU. Particular emphasis is placed on the critiques of the current legal system and suggestions for improvement in some important aspects, which include, inter alia, reforms of the two-tiered hierarchical system in law enforcement that heavily relies on criminal sanctions and the regime of algorithmic and high-frequency trading that is void of statute regulation. This book serves several purposes, all very much needed in today's embattled situation of the humanities and the study of literature. In Scribal Culture in Ben Sira Lindsey A. Askin examines scribal culture as a framework for analysing features of textual referencing throughout the Book of Ben Sira (c.198-175 BCE), revealing new insights into how Ben Sira wrote his book of wisdom. Although the title of "scribe" is regularly applied to Ben Sira, this designation presents certain interpretive challenges. Through comparative analysis, Askin contextualizes the sage's compositional style across historical, literary, and socio-cultural spheres of operation. New light is shed on Ben Sira's text and early Jewish textual reuse. Drawing upon physical and material evidence of reading and writing, Askin reveals the dexterity and complexity of Ben Sira's sustained textual reuse. Ben Sira's achievement thus demonstrates exemplary, "excellent" writing to a receptive audience.

We constantly refer to counterfactual events-things that didn't happen but could have-through conditional, wish, and modal constructions. Yet, despite their ubiquity, we still know surprisingly little about how these constructions have evolved across languages and through history. This book breaks new ground by tracing, for the first time, the development of counterfactual systems across different constructions, texts, linguistic registers, and historical stages. Drawing on extensive corpus data from Indo-European languages and nearly three millennia of Greek, it offers the first unified account of counterfactual and avertive constructions as core expressions of non-realization. In doing so, it also proposes a revised model of the counterfactual life cycle-one that integrates semantic, morphosyntactic, and pragmatic dimensions-providing typologists with a powerful framework for exploring how counterfactual expressions evolve across languages.

South Asia is characterised by a change in the nature of contemporary armed conflict, a shift from interstate to intrastate armed conflict. This change is closely enmeshed in post-colonial concerns of competing national identities, historical memories, politics of deprivation and legitimacy. It creates challenges for scholars, policymakers and practitioners alike, who are to develop responses to conflicts in South Asia. The liberal, state-centric emphasis in the fields of political science and international relations often precludes a civil society-initiated contextual analysis that focuses on societal tensions. Therefore, there is a significant lacuna in the literature that can inform policy on a practical level. This monograph aims to compensate for this lacuna by providing a comparative analysis of societal Connectors and Dividers (C&D) in Kashmir and Sri Lanka that have the potential to inform policy. This empirical work utilises the C&D analytical tool within the Do No Harm Framework (Anderson 1999), in order to uncover the hidden potential within the tool to aid policy implementation at a national level, and to provide pathways for Conflict Transformation in Kashmir and Sri Lanka. The C&D tool is widely utilised in evaluating humanitarian projects, to assess whether any of the actions may result in an unintended negative repercussion, while progressing with the project outcomes. However, at a national policy-setting level, this tool is unused. It is argued that sustainable conflict transformation hinges on imaginative capacities to transcend vicious cycles of violence.
