The Character of Christian-Muslim Encounter is a Festschrift in honour of David Thomas , Professor of Christianity and Islam, and Nadir Dinshaw Professor of Inter Religious Relations, at the University of Birmingham, UK. The Editors have put together a collection of over 30 contributions from colleagues of Professor Thomas that commences with a biographical sketch and representative tribute provided by a former doctoral student, and comprises a series of wide-ranging academic papers arranged to broadly reflect three dimensions of David Thomas' academic and professional work - studies in and of Islam; Christian-Muslim relations; the Church and interreligious engagement. These are set in the context of a focussed theme - the character of Christian-Muslim encounters - and cast within a broad chronological framework. Perspectives for Space Law in the Twenty-First Century /

The course evaluates the different phases of the development of space law against the background of the development of public international law. An analysis of current international space law investigates whether the body of law is ready for the challenges of outer space commercialisation and the rise of "New Space" in the 21st century. To accomplish this, it peruses through existing space law treaties, in particular the foundational Outer Space Treaty, as well as other sources of space law. Discovering that international space law developed as a permissive law that would enable the further evolution of space technology yet with sufficient foresight to understand that such evolution will require provisions for the preservation of the international common that is outer space, the author examines several avenues for the future evolution of space law. Among these, the author proposes several notions in order to preserve space law's initial character as a law for the protection of the international commons of "outer space" on the one hand, and pay attention to an equitable distribution of the benefits derived from the resources of outer space on the other hand.

In an innovative approach to the world-famous novelist Margaret Atwood and her oeuvre, this book traces the development of the transmedia universe built around Gilead, spanning over two novels, a serial, fan fiction, and social media. It offers a new perspective on 'The Handmaid's Tale' and - by extension - on the dynamics of world building that is difficult, if not altogether impossible, to analyze on the example of larger universes and media franchises. Each chapter offers insight into a different part of the Gilead universe, or a different point of entry, tracing character development, world expansion, the incongruities, and the intricate web of connections between particular elements. The loose threads are tied in 'The Testaments', which is both the grand finale and a springboard for new growth. This book will enable graduate students and scholars of transmedia or Atwood studies to discover new aspects of this storyworld, and to better understand other, larger and more complex ones.
