Herrscherideal und Herrschaftskritik bei Philo von Alexandria : eine Untersuchung am Beispiel seiner Josephsdarstellung in De Josepho und De somniis II /

Die in der Arbeit vorgenomme Auslegung der Schriften De Josepho und De Somniis II von Philo von Alexandria liest die beiden gegensätzlichen Darstellungen der Josephfigur als Beitrag zum Herrschaftsdiskurs. Die ambivalenten Tendenzen der biblischen Josephfigur bilden für ihn den Ausgangspunkt am Beispiel Josephs, Strukturen sowohl tyrannischer als auch idealer Herrschaft zu untersuchen. Philos Kenntnis griechisch-hellenistischer Philosophie sowie sein Verständnis der Tora als göttlich inspiriertem Text ermöglicht ihm, den politischen Charakter auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen zu reflektieren. Die Spannung zwischen beiden Traktaten bleibt dabei bestehen und kann als bewusste Darstellung gelungener und tyrannischer Herrschaft gedeutet werden. Zugleich entwickelt Philo aus den Ambivalenzen der Josephfigur heraus ein Herrschaftskonzept, welches aufgrund des Toraverständnisses politisches Handeln aus Abhängigkeiten befreit und universale Handlungsvorgaben und Kontrollinstanzen aufzeigt. -------- The exegesis of De Josepho and De Somniis II intended in this work read the two portrayals of Joseph as Philo's contribution to the discourse on government. The ambivalent tendencies in the Joseph figure form the point of departure for Philo in using it for examining structures of tyrannical and ideal rule. Philo's knowledge of Greek-Hellenistic philosophy and his understanding of the Torah enables him to reflect upon the political character on different levels. Thus the tension between both treatises can be interpreted as a conscious portrayal of effective and of tyrannical rule. At the same time Philo develops a concept of government out of the ambivalences of the Joseph figure, which, on the basis of the understanding of the Torah, liberates political action from dependencies and points out universal guidelines for action and the authorities responsible for control of them.

Demokrit, lachender Philosoph und sanguinischer Melancholiker : eine pseudohippokratische Geschichte /

The theme of the book is the Hellenistic epistolary novel which describes a fictional meeting between Democritus and Hippocrates. The author traces the later history of this story as part of the legend of the laughing philosopher on the one hand and of the history of melancholy on the other and demonstrates the interdependence of all three traditions in text editions, translations, paraphrases, commentaries, verse and painting from ancient times through to the Renaissance. He shows how the Stoic-Cynical tradition of 'Philosophus ridens' and the medical concept of 'Typus melancholicus sanguinicus' come to amalgamate into the early modern Humanist literary and iconographical tradition of 'Democritus ridens melancholicus'. In so doing the author also shows the importance of this tradition to the subsequent interpretation of the epistolary novel and its influence on modern research into the Hippocratic corpus and melancholy. The work links important themes in the fields of ancient philosophy, ancient medicine, art history and Renaissance studies and will offer thought-provoking material to many of those working in these areas.

The authorship of De Resurrectione traditionally ascribed to the apologist Athenagoras, and its dating are controversial to this day. Nikolai Kiel proves in this study that the resurrection treatise is pseudonymous. By positioning the text within the intellectual-historical context of early resurrection debates, its origin can be dated to the first half of the Third century. The discourse horizon of the discussed tractate has been determined more precisely by means of a reconstruction of the constituent opposing position. Through his interpretative survey of De Resurrectione , the author has advanced the study of apologetic literature from the early patristic Era. Die Verfasserschaft der traditionell dem Apologeten Athenagoras zugeschriebenen Schrift De Resurrectione und ihre Datierung sind bis heute umstritten. Nikolai Kiel weist in dieser Studie nach, dass der Auferstehungstraktat ein Pseudonym darstellt. Durch eine Verortung des Textes im ideengeschichtlichen Kontext der altkirchlichen Auferstehungsdebatten kann seine Entstehung auf die erste Hälfte des dritten Jahrhunderts datiert werden. Hierzu wird auch der Diskurshorizont des untersuchten Traktats mittels einer Rekonstruktion der in der Leugnung der Totenauferstehung bestehenden gegnerischen Position näher bestimmt. Ausgehend von einem interpretierenden Durchgang durch De Resurrectione leistet der Verfasser einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur patristischen Forschung des apologetischen Zeitalters.

The treatise "De Graecarum affectionum curatione" (Therapeia of the Greek Maladies) is considered a highlight of Christian apologetic literature. Bishop Theodoret of Cyrrhus(ca AD 393 - ca AD 460) disputes the prejudice that the Christian faith was incompatible with classical education and civilization. He shows the integrating ability of globally aligned Christianity to establish peaceful local communities. The Greek tradition itself demonstrates the truth of Christianity. The text is placed in the context of Theodoret's life and works. Its literary character, place in Christian apologetics, sources, cultural and historical context, and the possibility that Syrian Antioch was its place of origin are all examined. The present edition contains the critical text by Raeder and a German translation with notes. Die Schrift "De Graecarum affectionum curatione" (Heilung der griechischen Krankheiten) ist ein Höhe¬punkt der Apologetik der Alten Kirche. Theodoret (circa 393 - circa 460), Bischof von Kyrrhos, tritt dem Vorurteil entgegen, Glaube und Lebensführung der Christen vertrügen sich nicht mit klassischer Bildung und Gesittung. Er wirbt für die integrative Fähigkeit des global ausgerichteten Christentums, friedliche lokale Ge¬meinschaften eta¬blieren zu können. Die griechische Tradition selbst bezeuge die Wahrheit des Christentums. Der Erste Weltkrieg macht ein Phänomen moderner Kriege greifbar: die enge Verflechtung von militärischen und industriellen Aufgabenstellungen. Er wird oft als der erste industrialisierte Krieg beschrieben. Die sich rapide modernisierende Realität des Kriegsgeschehens 1914 bis 1918 ließ die Bedeutung einer steten Versorgung mit industriell hergestellten Gütern immer weiter anwachsen. Dies betraf sowohl die Ausrüstung und Versorgung der Soldaten an den Fronten, auf dem Meer und in der Luft wie auch der Zivilbevölkerung in der Heimat. Die Perspektive der produzierenden Unternehmen in den verschiedenen Wirtschaftsbranchen in diesem Geschehenszusammenhang ist bislang aber kaum erforscht. Die Studien in diesem Band werfen dazu neue Fragen auf und bieten innovative Ansätze, um diese Lücke zu schließen.

Mit dem Untertitel »Streitfragen« bringt dieser Band 44 der Fichte-Studien eine zweite Gruppe von Beiträgen, die das Hauptthema »Fichte und seine Zeit« behandeln und es aus unterschiedlichen Gesichtspunkten entfalten. Die erste Gruppe - mit dem Untertitel: Kontext, Konfrontationen, Rezeptionen - wurde im Band 43 der Fichte-Studien bereits veröffentlicht. In überarbeiteter und aktualisierter Form stellen die folgenden Beiträge Materialien dar, die in Bologna auf dem internationalen Fichte-Kongress von 2012 vorgelegt und besprochen wurden.
