Emil L. Fackenheim: Philosopher, Theologian, Jew is a scholarly tribute to Fackenheim's memory. Fackenheim's combination of erudition and generosity served to inspire a lifetime of philosophical inquiry, and a number of his students are represented in this volume. The volume, in order to provide a forum through which to introduce his thought to a broader audience, covers a wide spectrum of Fackenheim's work including biographical, philosophical, and theological aspects of his thought that have not been addressed adequately in the past. Elie Wiesel, a close personal friend to Fackenheim for over 30 years, has provided the Foreword for the volume.

Ratfale Jasfa (Romani: 'Tears of Blood') is a poem by the Romani poet Papusza (Bronisława Wajs) who survived the German occupation and the Second World War in Volhynia, currently Ukraine. It is also one of the earliest known testimonies by a Romani genocide survivor and a Romani woman. This book introduces the recently re-discovered manuscript which is four times longer than the previously known text. The volume includes a transcript of the poem in Romani, a translation into English, extensive historical-philological commentaries, alongside stand-alone chapters on the poet, manuscript and the historical context.

Euripides and the language of craft

This first in-depth account of Euripides and the visual arts demonstrates how the tragedian used language to visual effect, whether through allusion or actual references to objects, motifs built around real or imaginary objects, or the use of technical terminology. The evidence presented in this study corroborates the concern for realism and the genre detail for which Euripides is parodied in Aristophanes' Frogs and presents him as a man of his time, like Socrates, fully versed in the ways and means of the visual arts as well as the verbal. In revealing the extent of the visual inclination of Euripides' language, this study reflects upon the larger dialogue between text and image, image and text.

The Scroll of the Hodayot or Thanksgiving Hymns was found in a cave, generally known as Cave One, in the vicinity of Khirbet Qumran on the northwestern shore of the Dead Sea in the spring of 1947, together with other scrolls and fragments of manuscripts. The Thanksgiving Scroll was found in two parts. One contained three separate folded sheets. The second part was a crumpled mass of some seventy fragments by the time it reached the hands of scholars at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem.
