Le naos de Sopdou à Saft el-Henneh (CG 70021) : paléographie /

: "The present work examines the form and function of hieroglyphic signs on the naos of Sopdu from Saft el-Henneh, now in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. This monument, dating to the 30th Dynasty and inscribed on all four sides, is of considerable epigraphic interest, as there are few similarly long inscriptions from that period. The plates show almost 1,500 signs that have been drawn especially to accompany this publication. These are grouped into 443 categories which are described in the usual format of the collection Paléographie hiéroglyphique: identification of the sign, palaeographical description with particular reference to parallels on contemporary monuments, and function. This volume on the naos of Sopdu is likewise of interest for anyone involved in the study of Egyptian art and religion in the Late Period." -- back cover. : xxxi, 237 p. : ill. ; 28 cm. : Includes bibliographical references (p. xxvii-xxxi). : 9782724706475

Nefertiti's sun temple : a new cult complex at Tell el-Amarna /

: Nefertiti's Sun Temple publishes stone relief fragments excavated from the site of Kom el-Nana at Tell el-Amarna, Egypt, dating to approximately 1350 BCE. This is the first time relief fragments can be associated with a specific wall from a specific temple at Tell el-Amarna. Jacquelyn Williamson reconstructs the architecture, art, and inscriptions from the site to demonstrate Kom el-Nana is the location of Queen Nefertiti's 'Sunshade of Re' temple and another more enigmatic structure that served the funerary needs of the non-royal courtiers at the ancient city. The art and inscriptions provide new information about Queen Nefertiti and challenge assumptions about her role in Pharaoh Akhenaten's religious movement dedicated to the sun god Aten.

: This book publishes a previously unknown collection of hieratic ostraca from the Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge. The texts include a broad range of genres, including wisdom literature, religious hymns, magical texts, medical recipes, private letters, administrative notes, scribal exercises ( Kemit ), and copies of tomb inscriptions. Each ostracon is presented with photographs, facsimile drawings and hieroglyphic transcriptions, as well as translations and brief philological commentaries.
