Proclus on Whole and Part: A Reappraisal of Mereology in Neoplatonic Metaphysics /
:
No late ancient philosopher has written more extensively on part-whole relations than the Neoplatonic commentator Proclus. In Proclus on Whole and Part , Arthur Oosthout unfolds, for the first time, Proclus' detailed and systematic analysis of (Neo-)Platonic mereology in full. Oosthout weaves together a great number of previously disconnected scholarly inquiries into Proclus, while adding many critical notes and new insights of his own. He bases this new synthesis on a detailed theoretical framework built not only on the metaphysical theories of Plato and Aristotle, but also on the arguments of prominent scholars of modern mereology.

Former Yugoslavia Through Documents : From its dissolution to the peace settlement: Part 2 /
:
From the end of the 1980s and beginning of the 1990s onwards, the world's attention has been occupied with the events which eventually led to the dissolution of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia and to the creation of five independent and sovereign states. Apart from the humanitarian disaster and the devastated economies of the countries created on the territory of the former Yugoslavia, it brought some important issues of international law to the forefront, and provided the impetus for some new and rapid developments. The book is an epilogue to the first, very successful, collection Yugoslavia through Documents: from its creation to its dissolution , published by Martinus Nijhoff Publishers in 1994. However, because of the complexity of the issues in the political, military, humanitarian and legal fields, its structure is different. The book is divided into an Introduction and nine Parts, each of them dealing with specific issues and containing, where appropriate, the Editor's note, comment or additional information. These two volumes constitute an absolutely essential collection for all research libraries.

A Badaga and English Dictionary : Glossary and Gazetteer (3 Parts) /
:
The two authors were jointly responsible for the first version of this Badaga Dictionary (Berlin 1992). It is now extensively revised and expanded to two volumes, and - unique for a Dravidian dictionary - it includes some 2000 local place-names. The vocabulary documented here was partly collected by the two authors during long-term fieldwork, but otherwise came from records of Badaga folk literature. Although there are several dialects of the language, these have not yet been systematically studied; but dialectal variations are nonetheless recorded wherever they are known. An introductory essay examines the status of the language, while another essay outlines the cultural history of the Badaga people. Many entries here include the bibliographic references to the extensive Nilgiri regional literature, and these will prove invaluable to natural scientists, even those not concerned with the Badaga language. Thousands of entries also include notes on religious or cultural beliefs and practices in the Nilgiri Hills.

Rhetorical Criticism of the Bible : A Comprehensive Bibliography with Notes on History and Method /
:
This volume is designed as a resource for using rhetorical criticism as a methodology for interpreting the Bible. Rhetorical criticism is treated in the broader context of the growing interest in the study of the literary character of the Bible. The volume is divided into two parts to accommodate both the Old and New Testaments. Each part begins with a discussion of the history and methodology of rhetorical criticism pertinent to that Testament. Here special emphasis is given to the current state and trends of the discipline and its impact on biblical interpretation. These discussions are followed by extensive bibliographies categorized to facilitate working with the published research on specific biblical texts, books, or categories of books.
