Dans Le parfait manuel des sciences coraniques al-Itqān fī ʿulūm al-Qurʾān de Ğalāl ad-Dīn as-Suyūṭī (849/1445-911/1505) , nous avons une description complète des problèmes relatifs au texte coranique qui se posent encore aujourd'hui, des solutions proposées et des méthodes employées. Ce texte témoigne de la liberté du débat et de la variété des solutions. Il s'agit d'un recueil de témoignages multiples antérieurs et contemporains à l'auteur et non d'une opinion subjective et isolée. Son but est d'être le guide de tout bon commentateur du Coran, en raison de la profusion des informations fournies sur l'ensemble des sciences coraniques. Cet ouvrage est un précieux point de repère pour l'histoire de la culture arabo-musulmane, en général, et de la linguistique, en particulier. In al-Suyūṭī's (1445-1515) The Perfect Handbook of the Qurʾānic Sciences , we find a complete description of the problems concerning the Qurʾānic text that still arise today, of the solutions proposed and the methods employed. This text bears witness to both freedom of debate and the variety of solutions. It is a collection of multiple accounts, both prior to and contemporary with the author, and not simply an isolated, subjective opinion. Its aim is to be the guide for every good Qurʾān commentator because of the abundant information it provides on all the Qurʾānic sciences. This work is an invaluable point of reference for the history of the Arab-Islamic culture in general and of linguistics in particular.

The compendium known as "Tabakât al-umam" is derived in part from the ancients, or from earlier writers like al-Fărăb̄̌. It is sometimes regarded as a continuation of Ibn Hazm's "Físal," by his disciple, Sâ'id ibn, al-Andalusi, to whom the work is ascribed. Fragments of it were included in the works, of Ibn Sa'ād, 'Alī ibn Mūsā, al-Maghribī, and Ibn al-Kiftī, whose Akhbăr al-hukamā' may be the same work. Cf. Enzyk. d. Islām, IV, page 900, and Asín Palacios, Abenházm de Córdoba, t. 1 (1927) page 285.
The translation follows Cheikho's Arabic text (Beyrouth, 1912). It is based on a manuscript, regarded as complete, in the British Museum, with additions and emendations from two manuscripts in the Bibliothèque nationale. Cf. Beirut. Impr. cath. cat. gén. 1935, page 45, 351.

His formal rejection of literalism and his multiple borrowings from Avicenna's philosophy are explained as a consequence of a conception of knowledge in which reason plays a decisive role. Il souligne l'importance de certaines découvertes de l'islamologue pour les études islamiques concernant la période formative du soufisme. Plus encore, ce livre sonde le regard porté par Massignon sur les vocations mystiques en islam et examine à la lumière des travaux récents sa vision de la « sainteté » et de la figure d'al-Ḥallāj (mort en 309/922). Par suite, ce travail fait émerger la question de la posture du chercheur en sciences des religions ainsi que celle des précautions à adopter afin que sa subjectivité ne reconstruise pas le réel, mais l'éclaire et le révèle. This book provides an extensive analysis of the work of Louis Massignon (1883-1962) on Muslim mysticism, based on previously unpublished historical and biographical elements. It highlights the importance for Islamic Studies of certain discoveries made by the Islamicist concerning the formative period of Sufism. More than that, this book probes Massignon's view of mystical vocations in Islam and examines, in the light of recent work, his vision of "holiness" and the figure of al-Ḥallāj (d. 309/922). This work opens, more broadly, the question of the posture of the researcher in the study of religion and the precautions to be adopted so that their subjectivity does not reconstruct reality, but illuminates and reveals it.

This volume contains the first critical edition of the Summa Alexandrinorum , that is the medieval Latin translation made in 1243 by Hermann the German of an Arabic abridgment of the Nicomachean Ethics known as the Iḫtiṣār al-Iskandarānīyīn . It is accompanied by a French translation. The volume also contains a full study of the manuscript tradition of the Latin text and sets out the principles used in the edition, which takes account, where necessary, of the Arabic version of the text, which has survived in the form of fragments. A study of the origin of the Summa Alexandrinorum and the relations between the Summa and the fragments and testimonies which are extant in other traditions and different languages completes the volume. Ce volume propose la toute première édition critique, accompagnée d'une traduction française, de la Summa Alexandrinorum , traduction latine médiévale exécutée en 1243 par Hermann l'Allemand d'un abrégé arabe de l' Éthique à Nicomaque connu sous le titre d' Iḫtiṣār al-Iskandarānīyīn . Il présente également une étude complète de la tradition manuscrite du texte latin, et les principes d'édition adoptés dans l'édition, qui prennent en compte, ponctuellement, la version arabe du texte qui a été conservée sous la forme de fragments.
