This collection of original essays provides fascinating insights into yoga as a historical and pluralistic phenomenon flourishing in a variety of religious and philosophical contexts. They cover a wide variety of traditions and topics related to Yoga: Classical Yoga, Sāṃkhya, Tantric Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, the Guru, Indic Islamic traditions of Yoga, Yoga and asceticism in contemporary India, and the reception of Yoga in the West. The essays are written by eighteen professors in the field of the history of religions, most of them former graduate students of Gerald James Larson, Larson is Rabindranath Tagore Professor Emeritus, Indiana University, Bloomington, Professor Emeritus, Religious Studies, University of California, Santa Barbara, an internationally acclaimed scholar on the history of religions and philosophies of India, and one of the world's foremost authorities on the Samkhya and Yoga traditions. The publication is in honour of him.

In Books 26-31 Ammianus Marcellinus deals with the period of the emperors Valentinian and Valens. The representatives of the new dynasty differ greatly from their predecessor Julian, both personally and in their style of government. The Empire is divided between the two rulers, and suffers increasingly from barbarian invasions. Faced with these changes, Ammianus adapts his historical method. His treatment of the events becomes less detailed and more critical. The years following on the death of Julian are painted in dark colours, as the disaster at Hadrianople casts its shadow before. The papers in this volume, on History and Historiography, Literary Composition and Crisis of Empire, were presented during the conference \'Ammianus after Julian\' held in 2005.

What is Jewish-feminist art, and how does it contribute to the spaces of art, society, and religion? Devoted Resistance examines the nature, methods of operation, and contribution of the feminist art movement, which has developed in traditional Jewish spheres since the late 1990s in the two major Jewish centers - the United States and Israel. The book analyzes critical Jewish feminist art and the different fields in which it operates; it explores the interrelationships between feminist Jewish art and feminist theories; the connection between critical discourse and feminist activism in observant Jewish worlds; and feminist artists and artwork in these spaces. Devoted Resistance highlights aspects common to feminist Jewish artists who create from traditional spheres and amalgamate the "social" with the "theological," connecting private experience with community existence.
