In 2006 against the background of the increasing problematization of Muslims and Islam in German public debate, the German government established the German Islam Conference. In a post 9/11 world, this was a time period shaped by the global war on terror, changes in the German naturalization law, the proliferation of racism targeting Muslims, and the expansion of security apparatuses. In Governing Muslims and Islam in Contemporary Germany Luis Manuel Hernández Aguilar critically analyzes the institutionalization of the Conference and the different projects this institution has set in motion to govern Islam and Muslims against the looming presence of racial representations of Muslims. The analysis begins with the foundation of the Conference until the end of its second phase in 2014.

Eric Voegelin's "Rassenbücher", both published in Germany only a few months apart in the tumultuous year of 1933, had until recently received relatively limited attention. These works were often considered merely a youthful episode preceding Voegelin's American exile. However, this perception has dramatically changed in recent times. On the one hand, the systematic analysis carried out in these works has finally been acknowledged for its complexity and has been integrated into the larger, never-completed project of a "Theory of Government". The unconventional aims of this project remained pivotal to Voegelin's later work. On the other hand, the renewed importance of corporeality and the concept of race in contemporary political thought encourages a closer investigation of the role played by bodily ideas in the formation of political communities. C'est pourtant un sujet récurent de ses ouvrages, où il réfléchit longuement sur l'Église à partir de l'être et la mission du Logos divin. L'analyse du discours de Clément sur l'Église permet donc de revisiter les intuitions principales de sa christologie tout en apportant un éclairage sur sa perception de l'identité chrétienne à une époque où celle-ci est encore en construction. Clement of Alexandria (AD 150-215) is one of the most brilliant thinkers of the early Christian centuries. His teaching, steeped as much in the Bible as in Greek thought, reveals to us the nature of the debates in the early days of the expansion of Christianity. This book deals with a subject little studied to this day, namely his thoughts on the Church. Yet it is a recurring subject in his works, where he reflects at length on the Church from the point of view of the being and the mission of the divine Logos. Analysis of Clement's discourse on the Church therefore makes it possible to revisit the main intuitions of his Christology while shedding light on his perception of Christian identity at a time when it is still under construction.
