Mit dem Untertitel »Streitfragen« bringt dieser Band 44 der Fichte-Studien eine zweite Gruppe von Beiträgen, die das Hauptthema »Fichte und seine Zeit« behandeln und es aus unterschiedlichen Gesichtspunkten entfalten. Die erste Gruppe - mit dem Untertitel: Kontext, Konfrontationen, Rezeptionen - wurde im Band 43 der Fichte-Studien bereits veröffentlicht. In überarbeiteter und aktualisierter Form stellen die folgenden Beiträge Materialien dar, die in Bologna auf dem internationalen Fichte-Kongress von 2012 vorgelegt und besprochen wurden. Die ›Fragen‹ bzw. die Themen, um die es ›Streit‹ gab, oder die noch heute als diskussionswürdig anzusehen sind, werden in diesem Band der Fichte-Studien nach vier Schwerpunkten gegliedert und gesammelt: 1. Transzendentalphilosophie und Wissenschaftslehre, 2. Recht und Politik, 3. Geschichte und Geschichtsphilosophie, 4. Körper und Natur. Dem Leser wird somit ein breites Spektrum von gewichtigen Themen, Fragestellungen, Informationen angeboten, die unser Bild von Fichte und dessen Philosophieren in seiner Zeit und in unserer Zeit ergänzen, bereichern und vertiefen.

Mit dem Ausdruck "Fichte und seine Zeit" können die letzten Jahre des 18. und das erste Jahrzehnt des 19. Jahrhunderts bis zur Völkerschlacht von 1813 überschrieben werden: die ertragreichsten Jahre im Schaffen und Wirken Fichtes. Fichte erarbeitete das System der Wissenschaftslehre keineswegs in Selbstisolierung und ohne Rücksicht auf die spekulativen Anregungen, die er von dem ihn prägenden geistigen und kulturellen Milieu erhielt. Die Jahre des Übergangs vom 18. zum 19. Jahrhundert sind auch diejenigen, in welche man die Geburt der ,romantischen Bewegung' ansetzt, deren Vaterschaft man wohl Fichte zusprechen muss, obzwar er bald von vielen seiner Schülern verleugnet wurde. Diese Jahre machen zugleich einen entscheidenden Zeitabschnitt in der deutschen Geschichte aus, welcher große Veränderungen - sowohl in staatlich-institutioneller als auch in gesellschaftlicher Hinsicht - mit sich gebracht hat und der mit den Eroberungskriegen Napoleons zu Ende geht, welche eine Zäsur in der deutschen Geschichte des 19. Jahrhunderts bewirkt haben. Die Absicht vorliegenden Buches ist es, das Geflecht der unterschiedlichen Fragestellungen, die mit dem Stichwort "Fichte und seine Zeit" verbunden sind, in Betracht zu nehmen und ihre internen Zusammenhänge und ihre Geschlossenheit deutlich zu machen. Das Ziel ist daher, nicht nur die einzelnen Themen in ihrem Entstehen, Aufblühen, Sich-Entfalten zu verfolgen, sondern näher zu verstehen, wie Fichtes Gedanke gerade dank dem intellektuellen und wissenschaftlichen Austausch und der Auseinandersetzung mit ,seiner Zeit' bzw. seinen Zeitgenossen gereift und selbstbewusst geworden ist. Herrscherideal und Herrschaftskritik bei Philo von Alexandria : eine Untersuchung am Beispiel seiner Josephsdarstellung in De Josepho und De somniis II /

Die in der Arbeit vorgenomme Auslegung der Schriften De Josepho und De Somniis II von Philo von Alexandria liest die beiden gegensätzlichen Darstellungen der Josephfigur als Beitrag zum Herrschaftsdiskurs. Die ambivalenten Tendenzen der biblischen Josephfigur bilden für ihn den Ausgangspunkt am Beispiel Josephs, Strukturen sowohl tyrannischer als auch idealer Herrschaft zu untersuchen. Philos Kenntnis griechisch-hellenistischer Philosophie sowie sein Verständnis der Tora als göttlich inspiriertem Text ermöglicht ihm, den politischen Charakter auf unterschiedlichen Ebenen zu reflektieren. Die Spannung zwischen beiden Traktaten bleibt dabei bestehen und kann als bewusste Darstellung gelungener und tyrannischer Herrschaft gedeutet werden. Zugleich entwickelt Philo aus den Ambivalenzen der Josephfigur heraus ein Herrschaftskonzept, welches aufgrund des Toraverständnisses politisches Handeln aus Abhängigkeiten befreit und universale Handlungsvorgaben und Kontrollinstanzen aufzeigt. -------- The exegesis of De Josepho and De Somniis II intended in this work read the two portrayals of Joseph as Philo's contribution to the discourse on government. The ambivalent tendencies in the Joseph figure form the point of departure for Philo in using it for examining structures of tyrannical and ideal rule. Philo's knowledge of Greek-Hellenistic philosophy and his understanding of the Torah enables him to reflect upon the political character on different levels. Thus the tension between both treatises can be interpreted as a conscious portrayal of effective and of tyrannical rule. At the same time Philo develops a concept of government out of the ambivalences of the Joseph figure, which, on the basis of the understanding of the Torah, liberates political action from dependencies and points out universal guidelines for action and the authorities responsible for control of them.

This book is the first attempt at a critical edition of selected works and letters by Maximilian Beck-the "forgotten phenomenologist". Maximilian, or Max, Beck was one of the representatives of the early phenomenological tradition and in particular of the so-called "Munich" phenomenological circle. In the introductory chapter, Daniele De Santis presents his life, his most important publications and the general character of his philosophy. Beck supported a strong objectivism in ontology and theory of ideas and advocated a radical form of "naïve realism" in the theory of knowledge. He was the author of the first long, critical discussion of Heidegger's Being and Time and a radical critic of all forms of transcendentalism and idealism, especially those of Husserl and Heidegger. Dieses Buch ist der erste Versuch einer textkritischen Ausgabe ausgewählter Werke und Briefe von Maximilian Beck-dem "vergessenen Phänomenologen". Maximilian, oder Max, Beck war einer der Vertreter der frühen phänomenologischen Tradition und insbesondere des sogenannten "Münchner" Phänomenologiekreises. The authorship of De Resurrectione traditionally ascribed to the apologist Athenagoras, and its dating are controversial to this day. Nikolai Kiel proves in this study that the resurrection treatise is pseudonymous. By positioning the text within the intellectual-historical context of early resurrection debates, its origin can be dated to the first half of the Third century. The discourse horizon of the discussed tractate has been determined more precisely by means of a reconstruction of the constituent opposing position. Through his interpretative survey of De Resurrectione , the author has advanced the study of apologetic literature from the early patristic Era. Die Verfasserschaft der traditionell dem Apologeten Athenagoras zugeschriebenen Schrift De Resurrectione und ihre Datierung sind bis heute umstritten. Nikolai Kiel weist in dieser Studie nach, dass der Auferstehungstraktat ein Pseudonym darstellt. Durch eine Verortung des Textes im ideengeschichtlichen Kontext der altkirchlichen Auferstehungsdebatten kann seine Entstehung auf die erste Hälfte des dritten Jahrhunderts datiert werden. Hierzu wird auch der Diskurshorizont des untersuchten Traktats mittels einer Rekonstruktion der in der Leugnung der Totenauferstehung bestehenden gegnerischen Position näher bestimmt. Ausgehend von einem interpretierenden Durchgang durch De Resurrectione leistet der Verfasser einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur patristischen Forschung des apologetischen Zeitalters.

A much discussed question in classical studies is the comparison between the situation of poets in Augustan Rome and that of artists and intellectuals in the totalitarian regimes of the twentieth century. In Brief 102, das unter dem Titel Quaestiones expositae contra paganos numero sex im Schriftenkatalog Augustins als eigenständiges Werk geführt wird und hier erstmals in einer deutschen Übersetzung vorliegt, beantwortet Augustinus sechs Fragen, die von Paganen an das Christentum gestellt wurden, wie beispielsweise über die Auferstehung oder über den Propheten Jona. In De divinatione daemonum erörtert Augustinus das Wesen der Dämonen und deren Fähigkeit zur Wahrsagung. Mit dieser Schrift hat Augustinus als einziger Kirchenvater ein eigenständiges Werk über Dämonen verfasst. Diese Schriften, die beide in den Jahren 406--411 verfasst wurden, können Augustins Gelegenheitsschriften zugerechnet werden, in denen er sich mit der paganen Umwelt auseinandersetzt. So sind diese beiden Schriften auch für seine Pastoral von Bedeutung.

Comment prévoir l'inconnu et contrôler l'inattendu ? Les Anciens ont tenté de répondre à ces questions en interprétant des signes dans lesquels il reconnaissaient des messages divins. Ce recueil permet de comparer la diversité de leurs questionnements dans les sociétés polythéistes ou monothéistes de la Méditerranée antique. Il interroge premièrement la construction rituelle des signes au sein des institutions divinatoires ; deuxièmement, des phénomènes naturels spontanés, qui, apparus hors de toute institution, ont néanmoins valeur de présages ou d'avertissements ; troisièmement, l'intentionnalité manifestée à travers l'intervention divine dans l'histoire des peuples ou les vies singulières ; quatrièmement, l'épistémologie des signes dans des élaborations philosophiques ou théologiques qui éclairent la tension entre données oraculaires et contrôle ritualisé des signes, entre données révélées et argumentations raisonnées visant à neutraliser les injonctions du destin. How to foresee the unknown and master the unexpected? Ancient people tried to answer those questions by interpreting signs considered as divine messages. In this volume, the writers compare and examine this manifold questioning in the polytheistic and monotheistic societies of the ancient Mediterranean Sea. In the first place, it is shown how signs were ritually constructed within instituted practice of divination ; second, how, although some spontaneous natural phenomena appeared out of any instituted context, may nevertheless constitute omens or monition ; third, how the gods' intervention may reveal a sort of intention in the course of national history or individual life ; finally, the essays study the epistemology of signs at work in some philosophical or theological elaborations, which may enlighten the tension between oracular evidence and ritual control of signs, and between revealed facts and reasoning arguments intending to neutralize the injunctions of the divine.
