Les 203 dédicaces votives en araméen de Palmyre de la période entre IIe et IIIe siècle de n.è. intriguent par 3 dénominations divines : « Béni (soit) son nom pour l'éternité », « Maître de l'Univers » et « le Miséricordieux ». Des études précédentes ont postulé univoquement l'anonymat divin. En étant déçu par cette explication du phénomène des inscriptions palmyréniennes, le livre Des dédicaces sans théonyme de Palmyre : Béni (soit) son nom pour l'éternité a pris pour le point de départ les concepts de remerciement et de louange, en découvrant l'existence d'un hymne rituel comme origine de la formule « Béni (soit) son nom pour l'éternité ». Qui sont donc des dieux, des récepteurs des dédicaces de Palmyre ? Peut-on combiner un nom propre d'un dieu avec ces trois formules ? Ce livre répond à ces questions flagrantes. 203 Palmyrene-Aramaic votive inscriptions from the period between the 2nd and 3rd centuries CE contain three intriguing designations of the gods: "Blessed (be) his name forever", "Master of the Universe" and "the Merciful". Previous studies have claimed that the god to whom these inscriptions are addressed is anonymous. Not satisfied with this explanation, Des dédicaces sans théonyme de Palmyre: Béni (soit) son nom pour l'éternité addresses the phenomenon through the lens of thanksgiving and praise, revealing the existence of a contemporary ritual hymn, the origin of the Palmyrene formula "Blessed his name forever". Who, then, were these gods, the recipients of the dedications? Can we find a match between the formulae and a proper name? This book provides answers to these fascinating questions.

In 1904, Ed.-Ch. Babut issued a new edition of the important Decretale Ad Gallos episcopos with the help of a second manuscript of the canonical "collection of St. Maur". He attributed it to Pope Damasus (366-384), and not to Sirice (384-398). Nevertheless, he did ignore the existence of the ancestor of the two previous manuscripts and of an other collection, materialized today by two fragmented manuscripts. This new edition of the Decretale is updated with the help of all the existing traditions and brings significant improvements. The attribution to Damasus, discussed throughout the 20th century is here confirmed through another method than Babut's. The survey of the content, the texts of the holy scripture used, and argumentation make possible the identification of the influence of Jerome who was the secretary of Damasus in 382-384. He was the only man using specific bible texts or specific expressions present in this Decretale. In spite of his wish to base all his decisions upon the Scripture and upon the Fathers' tradition (Nicée-Sardique), we discover in this decretale, focused essentially on the life of the blessed virgins and on the hiring process and life of the church, the strong assessment of the power of the "Sedes apostolica" and also of the necessity of a discipline policy, designed by the Church of Rome.

The codex Parisino-petropolitanus is one of the earliest witnesses of the handwritten transmission of the Qurʾanic text which has survived to this day. The various fragments which were part of the original manuscript are scattered among various collections; once put together, they provide a unique picture of the state of the text during the 7th century (orthography and textual peculiarities) and of the circumstances in which the canonical version as we know it today took shape physically. The present study, first of its kind, paves the way for a more accurate understanding of the beginning of Islam, based on a significant document, and of the evolution of the Qurʾan during that period. Le codex Parisino-petropolitanus est l'un des plus anciens témoins de la transmission manuscrite du texte du Coran qui aient été conservés. Ses différents fragments sont dispersés entre plusieurs collections; une fois mis ensemble, ils donnent un aperçu unique sur l'état du texte au 7e siècle (orthographe et particularités textuelles) et sur les conditions dans lesquelles s'est organisée matériellement la constitution de la version canonique telle que nous la connaissons. Cette étude, première de son genre, ouvre la voie à une compréhension plus fine, appuyée sur un document significatif, des premiers temps de l'islam et de l'évolution du Coran au cours de cette période.

A long introduction places the work in the philosophical and historical context of its time and characterises it as a spiritual exercise. Altogether 46 essays in honour of Professor Raija Sollamo contribute to explore various aspects of the rich textual material around the turn of the era. Le présent ouvrage tente la mise en oeuvre de l'analyse structurelle pour vingt psaumes, soit les Pss. 52, 54-60, 108, 62, 64-66, 78-80, 91-92, et le grand Ps. 119. Son ambition est de montrer à quel point l'architecture de ces textes en conditionne et en ouvre l'interprétation. Les considérer comme des ensembles structurés, faisant jouer entre les diverses unités des rapports multiples et ordonnés, est nécessaire à leur compréhension. A l'occasion on montre comment l'analyse structurelle permet de mieux saisir l'enchaînement des psaumes consécutifs dans le Psautier, ou encore les rapports entre psaumes opérant entre eux d'importants emprunts (57, 60, 108). Ici sera donc pris en compte en priorité le texte lui-même tel qu'il se présente à nous, afin de saisir ces clefs d'interprétation qui y sont inscrites. L'aventure extraordinaire d'Alexandre a fait de lui un héros hors du commun dont les échos ont rencontré des interprétations bienveillantes et enthousiastes aussi bien que des commentaires franchement négatifs. Pour les uns Alexandre était le roi modèle que les princes de ce monde feraient bien d'imiter: tout succès serait alors garanti. Pour les autres le comportement du jeune roi constituait un anti-exemple: son arrogance, son hybris étaient inacceptables, voire pernicieux. Chaque société réceptrice a ainsi récrit l'aventure dans la perspective qu'elle a jugée fonctionnelle. Le travail que voici présente pour la première fois l'évolution des réécritures consacrées à Alexandre le Grand dans la littérature française du 12e siècle depuis le texte d'Albéric (début du siècle) jusqu'au Vengement Alixandre de Gui de Cambrai (vers 1191). Entre ces deux textes-là on trouve l' Alexandre décasyllabique , le Fuerre de Gadres mis sur le compte d'un certain Eustache, l' Alexandre en Orient de Lambert le Tort, la Mort Alixandre , les versions conservées par les manuscrits Arsenal et Venise, le Roman de toute Chevalerie attribué à Thomas de Kent, la Venjance Alixandre de Jehan le Nevelon ainsi que le grand Roman d'Alexandre , terminé vers 1184/5, par Alexandre de Bernai dit de Paris, où Alexandre est vraiment le roi modèle. Ce dernier texte se distingue d'ailleurs non seulement des autres réécritures en territoire français de par sa solide charpente organisatrice (son compilateur l'a voulu example fonctionnel), mais aussi de par le fait qu'il est le seul à avoir occasionné de nombreuses suites et interpolations,- parmi lesquelles, entre autres, les fameux Vœux du Paon de Jacques de Longuy-on (1313/4). La compilation d'Alexandre de Bernai dit de Paris est devenue, et ce à juste titre, la vulgate de la tradition française.
