Eine Biografie birgt immer etwas Politisches, insbesondere in Zeiten des Krieges und der Krisen. In dieser Studie stellt Michał Turski die Biografien der Lodzer Deutschen zwischen 1914 und 196 dar. Dabei führte die deutsche Besatzung Polens zwischen 1939 und 1945 zu staatsbürgerschaftlichen Dilemmata mit schwerwiegenden Folgen. Die zunächst in Wartheland eingeführte "Deutsche Volksliste" bedeutete für alle ehemaligen Bürger Polens der deutschen Nationalität immense Probleme. Soll man Volksdeutscher werden oder soll man dieses Angebot ablehnen und nach dem Krieg weiter in Polen leben? Die Region Lodz gilt als das Beispiel für die Folgen der Nationalisierung von Biografien: Vor 1939 lebten Polen, Juden und Deutsche zusammen, ab 193 jedoch immer mehr voneinander getrennt. Die Lodzer Verhältnisse dieser Zeit bieten ein Forschungsfeld, in dem die Auswirkungen, welche die rassistische Bevölkerungspolitik auf Biografien einzelner Personen hatte, anhand von zeitgenössischen Quellen untersucht werden können.

Diese Arbeit beschäftigt sich mit dem Motiv Behinderung innerhalb des Jesajabuches und welche (ethischen) Auswirkungen diese Texte auf unser heutiges Verständnis von Behinderung besitzen. Gerade das Jesajabuch besitzt eine wirkungsreiche Rezeption in Theologie, Kirche und allgemein in unserer Gesellschaft, die auch unser gegenwärtiges Bild von Menschen mit Behinderungen prägt. In dieser Arbeit wird daher einen Dreischritt vollzogen. Im ersten Schritt werden alle Texte des Jesajabuches analysiert, in denen körperliche Behinderungen explizit erwähnt werden, zunächst historisch-kritisch. In einem zweiten Schritt beleuchtet die Autorin die Darstellungsformen von Behinderung auf einer ethisch-narrativen und einer metaphorischen Ebene und ziehe dazu Ansätze der Disability Studies und der Kognitiven Literaturwissenschaften heran. In einem dritten Schritt werden die Ergebnisse mit gegenwärtigen medizin-, bio- und sozialethischen Debatten in Bezug gesetzt.

Shaping Canon Law in an Age of Reform : Petrus Peckius on Church Reparation and Clerical Discipline /

This book examines the contributions of Petrus Peckius (1529-1589), a law professor at the University of Leuven, focusing on how he shaped canon law amid the rise of Protestantism, ongoing wars, and the demands of Catholic Reform, particularly the Council of Trent (1545-1563). This research shows that while Peckius largely adhered to established canons and jurisprudence within its commune, he also engaged with reform, introduced methodological innovations, and adapted to contemporary challenges. Based on Peckius' published works and lecture notes taken by a student in Leuven (1575-1577), we provide insight into his role as both jurist and educator. The emphasis lies on two key issues explored by Peckius: (1) the reparation of churches damaged during the Iconoclastic Fury and (2) the regulation of clerical conduct.
