Around 392 Theodore of Mopsuestia delivered his homilies to candidates for baptism. Using Theodore's homilies, this work studies the reception and influence of the Nicene Creed in the imperial church since Theodosius. Passed at Nicæa in 325 the Creed became an official dogma of the empire in 380/81. What was its role in the life of the church and in the theological controversies of the subsequent years? At which point did the people start to pay attention to its exact original wording? To which extent were Theodore's theological teachings influenced by the trinitarian dogma of Nicæa? The text of Theodore's Baptismal Creed is reconstructed in both its Syriac and Greek versions. It proves to be one of the most important sources of the Nicæno-Constantinopolitan Creed of 381.

Ce livre se concentre sur une particularité hiéroglyphique et hiératique traditionnellement appelée ± dissimilation graphique ? et désormais nommée ± dissemblance graphémique ?. Principalement attestée dans les textes de l?Ancien Empire, on rencontre cette particularité graphémique dans les duels et pluriels archaïques, offrant plusieurs classificateurs (ou déterminatifs) au lieu d?un seul agrémenté de traits diacritiques. Est dit ± dissemblable ? un lexème dont les classificateurs sont distincts, et non identiques comme il est d?usage la plupart du temps. Par exemple, mHy.t, ±poissons?, montrera une graphie standard si les trois poissons servant de classificateurs sont les mêmes ; sa graphie sera ±dissemblable? si trois espèces ? au lieu d?une seule ? sont représentées. Le présent ouvrage se donne pour objectif d?étudier de façon systématique les occurrences de dissemblance graphémique dans les textes égyptiens de l?Ancien Empire. Lexèmes concernés, hiéroglyphes employés, catégories représentées? L?analyse grammatologique et linguistique jette ainsi un nouvel éclairage sur une particularité peu prise en compte dans la littérature égyptologique, offrant par là même une nouvelle approche de la catégorisation et de la pensée égyptiennes en général.0.

Few regions possess so many and mainly complete Roman bridles as do the Vesuvian sites. Singular find conditions permit both comprehensive antiquarian-historian analyses of their production, functionality, and everyday use and new approaches to their typology and chronology. The 103 catalogued specimens belong to four types of bronze headstalls, namely metallic noseband, bitless metal bridle ('hackamore'), multipartite metallic bridle ('metallic halter'), and muzzle as well as two types of bits, namely snaffle bit with circular cheekpieces and curb bit. All of them occurred in more or less numerous variants of local or provincial origin. Special attention is paid to the reconstruction of application methods and combinations of types as well as the replica of a snaffle bit with circular cheekpieces.
