Gonda -- 9 Record of the Vākāṭaka dynasty, engraved on a detached slab of stone, found in the environs of Ganj (Bundelkhand); near the find-spot is a ruined stone structure, probably a dam to hold the waters of a stream. Gonda -- 10 Ligor inscription (Malay Peninsula): Stele measuring about 1 m in height and ½ m in width and inscribed on both faces. The eulogistic epigraph records the erection of a triple brick edifice by a king of the Śailendra dynasty which ruled over the empire of Śrīvijaya; the edifice is dedicated to Śākyamuni and his two associates, Padmapāṇi and Vajrapāṇi. Gonda -- 11 Urlam plates of Hastivarman: Set of three copper-plates which are strung on a copper ring. The inscription records the grant of a piece of land as an agrahāra; the grantor is mahārāja Hastivarman of Kaliṅga, who belonged to the Gāṅga family. The characters are of an early southern type. Gonda -- 12 Nālandā copper-plate of Devapāladeva, found by Hirananda Shastri in the antechamber of the so-called monastery B (1921). The plate must have suffered from the conflagration which destroyed that building. The introductory part (l. 1-25) is identical with the similar part of the Mungīr (Monghyr) copper-plate grant of the same king and gives the genealogy of the donor. From the second part we learn that Devapāladeva at the request of Bālaputradeva, king of Suvarnadvīpa, made through an ambassador, granted five villages for t he upkeep of the monastery b uilt at Nālandā at the instance of the said king of Suvarnadvīpa. The inscription was written and engraved with considerable care in early Devanāgarī script. Date: approx. 892 A.D. (or 860 A.D.). Gonda -- 13 Bhārellā Narteśvara image inscription, found on the pedestal of a huge image of Śiva-Naṭeśa, dug out of a tank in a village called Bhārellā, in the district of Tippera (East Bengal). Gonda -- 18 Inscription lying under a pipala tree at Dhāmleja, a very old village in the Junagadh State, Kathiawad: the Praśasti composed by Vāsudeva commemorates the deeds of Rāṇa, son of Teja, chief minister of the king of Gujarat and records the gift of a village to brahmans. It records that Hānsū and Jānsū, two daughters of Dhāndhama, the son of a minister, had the well made in the year 1384 A.D. Published by the same, ibidem, no 42. / |r J. Gonda -- 20 Inscription found in the eastern gate of Somanātha, Pāṭaṇa, Kathiawad, describing the sacred place called Prabhāsa and recording the digging of a well, etc. In the margin of the first three lines is made a note relating to the temple of Saṅgameśvara. It commemorates the deeds of a brave man, named Pāthāka. A.D. 1393. Published by the same, ibidem, no 52. / |r J. Gonda -- 23 Inscription found at Dhorail, a village in the district of Dinajpur (North Bengal). It is engraved on a sand-stone slab and records the construction of a bridge by a minister Farās Khān, during the reign of Mahmūd Shāh. The characters are Bengali. A.D. 1533. Gonda -- 24 Inscription in the Indian Museum, Calcutta, recording the erection of a funeral pillar in honour of a private person. It was probably found in the Damoh region.
