Beginning with the findings of the Paleolithic Age, the way to the juxtaposition of pastoral societies and larger cultural spaces in the floodplain is presented. From Bronze Age cultures, the arc is stretched to the kingdoms of Napata and Meroe to the Christian kingdoms and the Islamic Early Modern period.
