Summary:!in a recent letter, Mr. Edward F. Wente, Director of the Center in Cairo, describes Excavations conducted at Tura, the site of the quarries from which the Egyptians obtained the fine white limestone used for the outer coating of the Pyramids. These Quarries, situated only a few miles south of Cairo, were worked all during antiquity find indeed down to the present day, when a huge cement factory has been established in their vicinity. Mr. Wente has an exciting story to tell of recent developments at the site.
