| الملخص: | Lying some thirty kilometers north of Edfu on the West Bank of the Nile, the site of Hierakonpolis has been known as a major center of early Egyptian culture since before the turn of the century. In 1900 Quibell and Green proved the importance of the site when they found such well-known pieces as the Narmer Palette, the copper statues of Pepi II, and an Early Dynastic temple. This year, the expedition of the American Museum of Natural History, N.Y., under the auspices of the American Research Center in Egypt, again confirmed the singular importance of Hierakonpolis and demonstrated the exciting potential of the site. |
