Mār Ǧirǧis : Naǧʻ bi-Ṣaʻīd Miṣr

The French May : Actors and Dynamics of a Global Crisis /

: It is now time to stop revering May 68 as a political myth, but to consider it as it was, meaning as a social movement that unexpectedly turned into a tremendous political crisis, bringing French institutions near to collapse. Relying on original data, such as unprecedented archives and personal interviews with former sixty-eighters, the book brings new light on how the revolt was unleashed not only among Paris students but the whole French population, challenged all established hierarchies, shook culture and mores, deeply affected its participants' life course, and contributed to a worldwide context of protest.

The Muslim brothers in Europe : roots and discourse /

: This volume provides an overview on the history of the Muslim Brotherhood and the ways its heritage is appropriated by its European members today. They define themselves as the "community of the middle way", in the centre of Islamic orthodoxy, proposing an ethos and an ideology. However their heritage is composed of many different intellectual strata and these inputs are in tension. The current movement is both powerful and fragile as certain fundamental principles remain respected while many other themes are currently being cautiously questioned. By analysing private interviews and public discourse, this book fills in an important gap in scholarly research. No other in-depth study exists about this little known and reserved but important reference for European Muslims.

: ’’The 1953-54 season has been the best tourist season in Luxor since the ar, but strangely enough, we have seen fewer Egyptologists than usual. No excavation, went on since the French Institute is still unable to resume, and the Department of Antiquities did no excavating as such. M. Chewierاs work at Karnak was concentrated on removing the mass of fallen blocks up against the west face of the left (north)tower of the Second Pylon. These loose blocks have been entirely removed now and work can begin toward consolidating the tower. In this mass of blocks M. Chevrier found, for example, blocks with the cartouches of Horemheb which had been recut by Seti و Ramses تد and IV. Also beneath the pile, there was the broken but very nice, nearly life-size, red granite statue presumably of Queen Henuttawy. It had stood literally on the insteps of the colossal standing statue of the High Priest Pinodjem son of Plankh, the parts of which were found last season.

Where dreams may come : incubation sanctuaries in the Greco-Roman world /

: Where Dreams May Come was the winner of the 2018 Charles J . Goodwin Award of Merit, awarded by the Society for Classical Studies. In this book, Gil H. Renberg examines the ancient religious phenomenon of "incubation\', the ritual of sleeping at a divinity's sanctuary in order to obtain a prophetic or therapeutic dream. Most prominently associated with the Panhellenic healing god Asklepios, incubation was also practiced at the cult sites of numerous other divinities throughout the Greek world, but it is first known from ancient Near Eastern sources and was established in Pharaonic Egypt by the time of the Macedonian conquest; later, Christian worship came to include similar practices. Renberg's exhaustive study represents the first attempt to collect and analyze the evidence for incubation from Sumerian to Byzantine and Merovingian times, thus making an important contribution to religious history. This set consists of two books.

Mapping society : settlement structure in later Bronze Age Ireland /

: This study examines Middle-Late Bronze Age (c. 1750-600 BC) domestic settlement patterns in Ireland. The results reveal a distinct rise in the visibility, and a rapid adaption, of domestic architecture, which seems to have occurred earlier in Ireland than elsewhere in western and northern Europe.

Mapping Doggerland : the Mesolithic landscapes of the Southern North Sea /

: 12,000 years ago the area that now forms the southern North Sea was dry land: a vast plain populated by Mesolithic hunter-gatherers. By 5500 BC the entire area had disappeared beneath the sea as a consequence of rising sea levels. Until now, this unique landscape remained hidden from view and almost entirely unknown. The North Sea Palaeolandscape Project, funded by the Aggregates Levy Sustainability Fund, have mapped 23,000 km2 of this 'lost world' using seismic data collected for mineral exploration. 'Mapping Doggerland' demonstrates that the North Sea covers one of the largest and best preserved prehistoric landscapes in Europe.
