The creation of a legal infrastructure that suits the needs and potential of emerging economies is a conditio sine qua non for the long term success of a privatisation process. The purpose of this Volume is to examine and evaluate efforts of legal reform, through the analysis of legal changes in several areas of law, including securities regulation, competition law, the law on secured transactions and bankruptcy law. The study aims at assessing the overall difficulties affecting the creation of a market based legal system for emerging economies, and concludes by providing several recommendations and suggestions which are relevant to most countries and institutions engaged in the privatisation process.

Saʿdeddīn Efendi was a renowned Ottoman chief jurisconsult, influential statesman, eminent scholar, and prolific translator of Arabic and Persian works into Turkish. Prognostic Dreams, Otherworldly Saints, and Caliphal Ghosts: Hoca Saʿdeddīn Efendi's (d. 1599) "Selimname" comprises a critical edition, English translation, and a facsimile of his hagiographic work on controversial Ottoman sultan Selim I ("the Grim"). Saʿdeddīn's Selimname consists of a preface and twelve anecdotes in which Selim I is portrayed as a divinely ordained sultan who delves into the realm of meditation, communicates with otherworldly saints and the "rightly guided" caliphs, and foretells the future.

Arts-Based Research and the Practice of Freedom in Education advocates for the inclusion of arts-based research in doctoral education programs and, indeed, in educational programs at all levels. The doing of art to investigate ideas, situations, and experiences embraces bell hooks' concept of education as the practice of freedom, a practice in which everyone can learn and every voice counts. Through the use of photography, collage, painting, sculpture, textile arts and dance, 10 current and former doctoral students who had enrolled in an arts-based research course show and write about how arts-based methods enriched their educational experiences, celebrated their wholeness by dissolving the barriers between their scholar-artist-teacher-activist selves, and affirmed the inner-artist even in those who doubted they had one. A critical examination of the coherence-based genealogical method in New Testament textual criticism /

This study offers the first sustained examination of the Coherence-Based Genealogical Method (CBGM), a computerized method being used to edit the most widely-used editions of the Greek New Testament. Part one addresses the CBGM's history and reception before providing a fresh statement of its principles and procedures. Parts two and three consider the method's ability to recover the initial text and to delineate its history. A new portion of the global stemma is presented for the first time and important conclusions are drawn about the nature of the initial text, scribal habits, and the origins of the Byzantine text. A final chapter suggests improvements and highlights limitations. Overall, the CBGM is positively assessed but not without important criticisms and cautions.

Besides Hindu religion, detailed references are made to Christian religion or faith with emphasis on casteless Christians. Christian Dalits are casteless because they belong to a community who in their pre-Dalit state were casteless and classless people. Also Christians are supposed to be casteless, because Christian religion is considered to be above caste or class.

Needs fundamentally define us as human beings. This volume examines their role in dealing with distributive justice problems through a series of vignette studies. Among other things, it becomes clear that impartial observers make gradual assessments of justice that depend on how well the observed individuals are endowed with a good. If it is known how high their need for that good is, the assessments are made relative to this reference point. In addition, impartial decision-makers make hypothetical distribution decisions considering need, productivity, and accountability. The need of individuals is partially compensated even if they have contributed less to the available amount than they require. However, willingness to do so decreases if they are accountable for needing more or contributing less.

Sensitivity to the Greek linguistic climate, the so-called koine Greek, is another space. This work is the first major commentary to focus on the text of LXX Ezekiel in any modern language. Rather than seeing LXX mainly as a text-critical resource with variants to be explained, this commentary, as part of the Septuagint Commentary Series, examines a specific manuscript in its own right as a document used by Greek readers unfamiliar with Hebrew. Included are transcription and English translation of Codex Vaticanus, the oldest extant manuscript of the whole book, and a detailed commentary that also compares the earlier P967 and the Masoretic Text where they differ.
