En dehors d'analyses de type sociologique, les déclamations latines n'ont généralement que peu retenu l'attention des spécialistes de l'Antiquité. Pourtant, ces discours fictifs constituaient le couronnement de l'éducation rhétorique et un élément central de l'activité littéraire. De ce fait, ils appartiennent de plein droit au domaine de la littérature antique. Ce livre veut mieux faire connaître les déclamations latines et leur fonction dans le système éducatif romain. Il s'attache à mettre en lumière leur littérarité, en analysant les techniques narratives mises en œuvres et en soulignant leurs liens avec la poésie et le roman. L'ouvrage se penche également sur la question des rapports que ces textes entretiennent avec la réalité et sur celle de la pertinence de leur utilisation comme sources historiques. Il en ressort une réévaluation des déclamations, susceptible de susciter un nouvel intérêt pour ce genre littéraire majeur de l'Antiquité. The Latin declamations have, except for sociological analysis, drawn but little attention from specialists of Antiquity. However, these fictional discourses represented the highlight of the rhetorical education and were a central element in literary activity. This book strives to draw the Latin declamations and their role in the Roman educational system from the shadows. It will bring to light their literary nature and underline their ties with poetry and the novel. It also investigates the relation between these texts and reality and the pertinence of their use as historical sources. The result is a revaluation of the declamations, liable to provoke a new interest in this major literary genre of Antiquity.

L'annexe de ce travail comprend les textes en arabe de ces écrits identifiés et reconstitués à travers leurs citations. In his work, L'imamat et l'Occultation selon l'imamisme, Etude bibliographique et histoire de textes , Hassan Ansari has attempted to reconstruct a number of doctrines related to the concepts of religious authority ( imāma ) as well as occultation ( ghayba ) in Twelver Shi'i Islam ( Ithnā'ashariyya ). This has been done through identifying and collecting numerous references to quotations of early works in later Shiʿi texts. Ansari has reconstructed earlier layers of primary materials that are entirely lost and only pre-served in later sources.The book's Appendix comprises fragments of early works of Hadith reconstructed from later sources.

The present monograph is the first, since 1848, to be entirely devoted to the study of the cereal offerings. Its purpose is to attract attention to a form of sacrifice which was largely neglected and solely considered as an appendix to the animal sacrifice. The study of their substance, ritual and the circumstances in which the cereal offerings are brought to God demonstrates their great complexity as well as their specific function. His vegetarian utopia has led P to give the cereal offerings a prominent place among the sacrifices. A similar appreciation of the cereal offerings is also found among the Essenes, and, finally, in the Christian Last Supper.

The art of the Hekatompedon inscription and the birth of the stoikhedon style /

The purpose of this book is to present the Hekatompedon Inscription at Athens ( IG I³ 4) as a major monument of Greek art, legitimately on a par with more famous landmarks of the Greek aesthetic tradition like the Parthenon Frieze. Inscribed most probably in the middle of the decade that saw the Greek response to the Persian invasion, the Hekatompedon Inscription has long been recognized for its historical and religious importance. This study looks at the inscription on its own terms: the unique fusion of its visual and textual content in that most Greek of epigraphical layouts, the stoikhedon style. Such an approach leads to the question of origins: where and why was the stoikhedon style formulated and where does the Hekatompedon Inscription stand in that development? Egypt's influential system of proportions and use of grids will be considered determinative for the very first time.

The seminar on `Freedom of Association' was held in Reykjavik (Iceland) from 26 to 28 August 1993. It was organised by the Directorate of Human Rights of the Council of Europe in cooperation with the Ministry of Justice of Iceland, and dealt with the following four themes: freedom of association and political democracy; freedom of association and civil society; freedom of association and social democracy; freedom to form and join or not to join trade unions. Written communications were presented on the following subjects: case law of Article 11 of the European Convention on Human Rights, freedom of association and the freedom of associations, freedom of association of immigrants in Europe, freedom of association and public service and freedom of association, labour law and the needs of a democratic society. About one hundred personalities took part: representatives of governments of member States, representatives of non-governmental organisations, members of the European Commission and Court of Human Rights, professors and other interested persons from Central, Western and Eastern Europe competent in the fields covered by the themes of the Seminar. This publication contains the Proceedings of the Seminar: the official speeches made at the opening ceremony, the reports and written communications, the interventions, the final report and the list of participants. Le Séminaire sur la `Liberté d'association' a eu lieu à Reykjavik (Islande) du 26 au 28 août 1993. Il a été organisé par la Direction des Droits de l'Homme du Conseil de l'Europe en collaboration avec le Ministère de la Justice de l'Islande. Les travaux du Séminaire de Reykjavik ont été axés sur les quatre thèmes suivants: liberté d'association et démocratie politique; liberté des associations et société civile; liberté d'association et démocratie sociale; liberté de fonder avec d'autres des syndicats et de s'y affilier. Les papyrus de la mer Rouge.

The Ouadi el-Jarf site, excavated since 2011, is a port on the Red Sea that was used at the beginning of the 4th Dynasty to go by sea to the turquoise and copper mines of the southwestern peninsula of Sinai. In the 2013 campaign, a large batch of papyrus dating from the end of the reign of Cheops was unearthed at the entrance of one of the shop-galleries which are one of the characteristic traits of the site, to this day the most ancient hieratic papyrus ever discovered. They constitute the archives of a team of sailors and are subdivided into two main categories: accounts recording deliveries of different products, and logbooks covering several months of activity of this team. The latter describe missions carried out under the supervision of Inspector Merer and mainly concern the transport by river water of limestone blocks from the quarries of Toura to the construction site of the great pyramid of Cheops, on the other bank of the Nile. This book is the publication of the two best preserved logbooks of this lot.

In order to further scientific knowledge of human rights, the Council of Europe holds high-level meetings, such as colloquies, round tables and seminars. Every five years an important Colloquy on the European Convention on Human Rights takes place in a town of a member State. The Eighth International Colloquy on the European Convention on Human Rights, organised by the Secretariat General of the Council of Europe in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice of Hungary and the Hungarian Institute for Legal and Administrative Sciences, was held in Budapest from 20 to 23 September 1995. This volume contains the Proceedings of the Budapest Colloquy, which covered the following themes: The European Convention on Human Rights and cultural rights 1st session: Cultural rights: universal, indivisible, and legally enforceable rights; 2nd session: Cultural rights and the management of particular situations to ensure democratic security in Europe; The European Convention on Human Rights in the new architecture of Europe 3rd session: Effects on the European Convention on Human Rights of the enlargement of the number of Contracting Parties; 4th session: Implementation of the reform of the European Convention on Human Rights control machinery.
